Unfortunately, you can't weld using propane.

Because of theft, nobody will refill my tanks because I don't have a receipt proving that I own it. I threw my receipt away years ago. US air-weld closed it was the only place that would sell it to me without a receipt. I can't buy any kind of welding gas here. I got to drive about 70 miles into the next state to get it or buy a new tank so I can have a receipt.

I’m not sure if this makes sense. The little smith requires oxygen and propane, 2 lines.

"R" rated hoses are not intended for LP. "T" rated hoses are and much more durable than the "R" rated hose for use either fuel gas. Barbed ends are the lowest cost and most universal hose ends and a throwback to the earliest days of welding. Wire type clamps are a fine idea because they don't have "wings" like Oetiker clamps and safety wire is trivially cheap compared to brass ferrules and a crimper. Copper is a downside with acetylene plumbing (not to be confused with tips!) but not with propane. Injector torches are ideal for third world usage because they can run from very low pressure fuel gases (like the aforementioned acetylene generators, Rexarc in the US still make their ~120 year old design). If you want more tip sizes just buy a cheap set of small number sized drill bits and expand what you have. That's no different than drilling carb jets. Try bare brazing rod and flux for finer control than the thick rods normally sold. Harris example chart and info: www.harrisproductsgroup.com.au/wp-content/uploads/Brazing_Alloys_p1-6.pdf

Hi thanks again for the upload and information. I've constructed a needle valve setup similar to yours and connected my disposable tank to it and a flashback arrestor. I've fiddled about with both valves but I think the pressure is to much as can't get flame to hold steady without extinguishing. Do I need an additional pressure regulator? As I'm pretty sure that gas is coming out at alot more than 10 psi which is recommended for the little torch... Any advice would be welcome..

These torches are a copy of a French design made by Jetsoud. They allow much more control of the flame structure than a conventional stock and mixer design. The oxygen is fed into the fuel stream through a variable orifice injector valve much like the old low pressure acetylene torches that used a carbide generator. The oxygen flow is used to accelerate the fuel gas and you get a much more controllable flame.

Thank you so much for coming out with this video. I've looked for a long time and this is the only one that I've ever come across. I am eternally grateful. God bless you.

Hi thank you for video. Is this method will work on disposable oxigen Bottle?
@RGun90

No, the disposable o2 tanks are left hand thread and would require a different adapter. Personally though, I would highly recommend not even bothering with the disposable tanks (1.1cu ft) and just getting either an MC (10cu ft) or R (20cu ft) size O2 tank. You can pick up either for right around $70 and have 2-5x as much o2 as you would buying disposables, plus the larger tanks can be refilled for $10 so in the long run you save a ton of money while making less waste especially if using an oxy-propane torch since they require 5 parts O2 for every 1 part propane burned (4:1 for oxy-Mapp, 2.5:1 for oxy-acetylene)

hi , i have a gentech little torch and i burned the hose. it seems only the outer cover is damaged and the rubber hose inside seems ok but now the rubber is exposed and im a little worried. the gentech is not like the smith...the hoses seem to be crimped on to the torch and im not sure how to replace the damaged hose. do you happen to know how i can get the old hose off and attach a new one?

Use the "wire clamp" method or use a small brass ferrule for welding hose or use a small Oetiker clamp. If the Gentech hose barb unscrew you may be able to replace it with a small welding hose fitting from your local welding supply.

Thank you so much for these videos. I was depressed trying to solder with a creme brulee torch but really couldn't justify the cost of the whole Smith Little setup. This is a fantastic solution for me.

I have a question..... I ordered the parts you have listed, added the flashback. But it seems like the part ordered from air gas only fits the oxygen side of things . Any idea?

I double-checked the links and they go to the proper fitting. The oxygen fittings visually look the same as the fuel fittings except for the engraved dashes on the fuel fitting. Does yours have the dashes?

Thank you. I know how that goes. I have also purchased items from China and have yet to use them until I see them in action in someone's videos.
