Always prefill and let the oil filter soak to wet the media. That way you prevent 5 seconds of oil starvation.
@ThriftyGarageКүн бұрын
I’ve heard it both ways. When a filter is like this one (sideways) it’s nearly impossible to prefill. I try not to stress about it. Oil light is only on momentarily when I use this method on other vehicles.
@I_discovered_civilizationКүн бұрын
@@ThriftyGarage I have an upside down screw in filter. I still prefill it to where the entire media is soaked and has absorbed all the oil and then I put a little bit in again. It’s been proven, there should be a video on KZfaq, where there’s oil pressure drop for 5 secs from dry oil filters vs a wet media/prefilled oil filter. It cost nothing to do this and you potentially save your bearings from premature wear for a few seconds by doing this simple step.

@ThriftyGarage7 күн бұрын
I now have 3 Stihl chainsaws. This one is by far the most unreliable. But I don’t blame that on the brand. The engine has been rebuilt at least 3x to my knowledge. The first time with genuine Stihl components. Rebuilt due to having a tree fall on it. The 2nd and 3rd times were with cheap aftermarket parts. It’s had a rough life. I will say, my MS251 seems like it needs an adjustment. The only complaint with the MS400C is the weight adds up quickly; but it’s an absolute beast. It also chugs fuel!

Hey I wanted to ask if you still have your 4Runner with the replaced transmission and was wondering how it’s been ever since having it replaced. I know it’s random commenting it on this video. But I figured this was my best bet for a response since it’s your newest vid.
@ThriftyGarage17 күн бұрын
Mostly due to gas mileage we sold our 4Runner and bought a Hybrid Highlander. Cross Country trips and 16mpg didn’t mix well. We get 30mpg in the Highlander and it seats 8 and is a little bigger than the 4Runner. I have a more detailed comparison video between the Rav4, 4Runner and Highlander on the Toyota Fixation channel. The video is titled “2021 Toyota Highlander Review.” What are you trying to figure out with the 4Runner?

I know this video is old but I’m trying to grasp owning it for two years and only using half a gallon of fuel… I got the FS 56 RC-E and have 5 acres or so. Great trimmer. At my first house I had .11 acres lol so I bought a cheap craftsman’s trimmer. It lasted 3 years then died. Probably could have resurrected but not worth the time or money. The craftsman trimmer replaced my old Murray trimmer. Bought a new house with a lot more land and decided to spend a bit more and a quality trimmer and the difference is night and day.
@ThriftyGarage19 күн бұрын
Yes, we had a small city lot. Only trimmed every 2-3 mows. Since this video we started a landscape business and used this mowing for a couple of years before upgrading to the 94r. We pretty much used up all the life from the 56. But it treated us well!

@ThriftyGarage20 күн бұрын
I definitely should! When I made this modification I wasn’t sure how well this would work. But now after using it for over a year I’m 100% content with the results. It’s not a 1 handed latch mechanism like is intended from factory but it ALWAYS holds and that’s WAY more important to me.
@MrStuffdude20 күн бұрын
@@ThriftyGarage Awesome, doing something like this for a friend this weekend, going to cut and grind the old pin corners until it prevents the doors from ramming the wheel well, should give a little more clearance but I think the diamond plate will be the limit in the end with the old pin corners stopping the doors before they reshape it. Thanks for the inspiration! Love the latch idea
@adammorgan641821 күн бұрын
You don’t have to get the key cut. You have one right in front of you just unscrew the tiny screw and take the uncut key off. Then you put your key that is cut in it and put it back together.
@ThriftyGarage21 күн бұрын
There isn’t a tiny screw. It’s a piece of plastic molded through a hole in the metal on the key portion.
