Sweet funny video 😂 ... sorry to break it to you but in the U.K all ladies including the OP 31s are all available ready to buy, got offered one a couple years ago and thats when it was a massive hype in the watch industry 😅.. but dont matter in the end. I'm glad you love your new watch. At least you can start a "relation" with the AD, and who knows, you will get a chance to go for the hotter models? 🎉

@@janegoldberg I think it might just be because you’re in a major city, or they just want to make people feel special (which is understandable!). I got my explorer with almost no wait time a couple years ago, I think it was 8 days? I just walked in and had a nice chat with a sales assistant and they called me a week later 😅. Lovely Oyster perpetual. I like Rolex; they make dependable and pretty awesome looking watches. They also don't drop significantly in value either, so you can always sell it or trade it in for something else easily in the future. My problem with Rolex, and this is likely more of an issue here in Hong Kong, is that they're just so ubiquitous. I see Rolexes on people's wrist every single day here, including Daytonas, GMTs. It's almost like wearing a uniform to fit into the social norm here. I guess the longer you're in the hobby, the more you appreciate the smaller or less obvious brands. And branding no longer takes centre stage in the choice.
@janegoldberg

Thanks Alec. That’s interesting to hear. It’s funny how different things are in different countries; the Rolex problem would be like a paradise to me. We have the problem you speak of but with Apple Watches, even in New York. I wonder if that’s like Omega in London to some extent. We have an event called Windup Watch Fair with many smaller brands. If you are visiting the US, you might enjoy it.

Thanks for your great video! Caseback: Rolex were always originally a function over beauty company, and so having an exhibition glass caseback would compromise the waterproofness or at very least give one extra point of potential failure. History: Rolex has a very complicated and interesting history and marketing has played an important role, in fact the company was left in trust by the founder so it’s a non profit, private company and always will be, meaning no shareholders to please and water down the quality of the products, all the remaining profits after paying employees go to marketing or charitable causes. (Which is also good marketing) Lovely watch, I hope you enjoy it! :-)
@fullcircle89
@fullcircle89 5 күн бұрын
I guess the solid case-back argument might hold in the 50s and 60s when Rolex's raison d'être was making tough tool watches, but no longer seems to hold water (pun intended) in modern times, when it's become a bit of a stretch to consider a brand-new GMT-Master II or a Smurf Submariner a tool. Also, plenty of modern manufacturers are capable of making tough, highly water-resistant watches with a see-through case-back. Case-in-point: the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik has a sapphire case-back, 200m water-resistance with just a push-pull crown, and is less than 9mm thick. P.S. loved the Zenith Chronomaster Revival Shadow shout-out - that's such a brilliant watch!

@@janegoldberg I do! Got my first Rolex last year and it’s the 40mm Explorer. Simplicity and relative anonymity. Much like yours! Yes sapphire crystal glass can still shatter upon impact with relative ease if it’s hit in the wrong place, although much harder break than regular glass or acrylic crystal. Adrian Barker channel on KZfaq (Bark & Jack) recently shattered his Explorer 2 crystal while photographing the watch when dropped onto a rock from only a couple of feet. But don’t feel like you should baby your watch! They are intended for use in tough conditions and daily wear, enjoy and live your best life, congratulations on your amazing watch, Rolex is a status symbol but they also make a fantastic product, and like yourself every experience I have had with the company and it’s salespeople has been positive! :-)

A lot of collectors talk about "Rolex regret". Many get their first Rolex and regret buying it for a number of reasons. The watches are more hype about a brand than real substance. I got my first Daytona at my local AD. This when you could actually walk in and buy a watch. No waitlists or other hurdles. I even received a small discount on the stainless steel model. I was struck by how cheap the bracelet felt compared to other Swiss brands. I never had regrets about Patek, Omega, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Tudor, or Panerai.

They're not real collectors. They are frauds who wanted a Rolex to flex. Real collectors appreciate Rolex and know what they are all about. I have a SS Pepsi and SS Daytona. Such a great video! Adding on to consideration number 3, I always pay close attention to the stitching, flap placement, and whether any surface area is concaving in or bulging out too much. RE: number 3 and 5, if you place a bag on a flat surface, check if it's leaning forward/backwards too much. The bag can develop a crease too quickly. I would recommend you get a retourner togo leather Kelly if you're worried too much about the flap opening and closing. Don't buckle the sangles, keep them hanging off the bag.

Your Birkin 30 looks incredible! I have a few Hermes bags (Birkin 30, Constance 18, Picotin 18, Evelyne TPM). While I would love to add a Birkin 25, i am teetering towards acquiring a Kelly 25 to complete the BKC trio. I will likely add both. I currently have 8 bags so there is room for 2 in my home. What would you recommend, and is there an Hermes bag on your radar?
@janegoldberg
@janegoldberg 29 күн бұрын
Wow! You are creating the collection of dreams. 🩵 I am honored you asked. If it’s important for you to complete the trio you definitely should. But here are 3 ways of thinking about it: 1) Maybe ask yourself which you’d regret not completing: getting the trio vs. getting the baby Birkin! 2) Maybe rent a B25 and K25, then try both for a few weeks! Or you can buy one and return it from Fashionphile if you don’t take the tag off. 3) Since you will add both eventually, you could put both on your wishlist and just see which you get first. I’m too much of a B fan so I’d want the Birkin trio before getting BKC. But the smaller Kelly sizes are so cute and I always wonder if I should get one. Maybe a K25 in retourne or a box mini Kelly in the distant future. The shoulder strap sounds amazing. For now, I’m on the wishlist for a B25. By the way, I’m curious how you decided on the K25 vs other sizes! Also, will be interested to hear what you end up with!
@ancui_08
@ancui_08 23 күн бұрын
@@janegoldberg Thank you for the thoughtful reply! 1. I would not regret either. The Birkin and Constance are far more usable than the Kelly. The Kelly, however, would complete the trio. 2. I tried them all in Ginza last Fall! They are both quite toy like, but the Kelly 25 is similar to my small coco handle size wise (sort of), and the Birkin 25 has the same capacity as the Picotin 18. 3. I think so too. I will leave it up the Hermes Gods (quoting my Hermes SA :D) and take whatever comes up first. You and I are both young (I’m in my mid-late 20s, are you as well?), so we have many more years ahead of us to acquire these milestone bags! I wanted any bag in the 25 size, including the Bolide 1923 25. My SA told me they never come in to the boutique, so I’ve resorted to pushing it off. In my opinion, the best sizes for each Hermes trinity bag is B30, K25, and C18.

Great review. I bought my Chanel bags years ago before they became so expensive. I also found it uncomfortable. I do love them for what they represent but decided to sell them since I rarely use them. Once acquired and that was off my bucket list, I realized they just sat on the shelf. It's not safe to walk around the city with a Chanel bag anymore. I agree the black and style is very formal and I just don't dress that way anymore. It feels like the bag is everywhere fake or real. And most importantly, Chanel put a 5 year limit on many repairs and my bags are no longer 100% refurbishable - a deal breaker for me. My best advice is to not to keep it if it causes more anguish than joy in real life. But keep it if it is meaningful and you cherish it. I have moved on so I'm happy to rehome to someone who will enjoy them more than I currently do. Please keep these type of honest reviews coming.

I really enjoy your reviews 💜 Your intelligence and sincerity comes though. We love what we love irrespective of cons. I love my classics flaps 👛

Wow, I wish more people reviewed and listed pros/cons like you do. This is so well done, thank you! Edit: This is an afterthought, but it would be absolutely amazing if you did reviews like this with other bags you own. Of course you don't have to, but your insight is incredibly valuable to me, because I am picky with my handbags and I like to know EVERYTHING haha. I also would not buy a Chanel Classic Flap, I bought a nonbranded version that has the same structure and it drove me crazy. I like to be able to use handbags, but to have something so delicate as a Chanel Classic Flap it would make me sad to not be able to use it often or on extremely special occasions.

I was just checking back in the comments to see if anyone had any feedback I should use for future videos so I can give you what you want. Imagine my happy surprise when I saw your edit! Thanks so much for that. I would LOVE to do a review like this on my other bags. Will definitely add that to the schedule. (This upcoming Wednesday June 5 might be a watches video but the following week will be a bag review.) I’ll always value your feedback, positive or negative. Thanks again @euriditia. ❤ If you or anyone else reading this has a preference about which bag I should review next, feel free to let me know.

I have two double flaps and I have never thought about any of the things that you're thinking about right now but I didn't pay $10,000. One was gifted and one I bought a long time ago so it was nowhere near that price I just wear it.
