As a volunteer veteran of three branches US Armed Forces(3 DD 214s 2 combat MOSs) and a moderate Democrat I'm a staunch advocate of the 2nd Amendment. However I grew up in an era where the only way you had an assault rifle in your hands was with a gun dealer license or enlist. Everyone had handguns, pump and semi auto shotguns, pump, semi and bolt big game guns. The closest we came to a mass shooting in the 70s was with spit wads, rubber bands and paper clips. Of course we could not buy AK-47s and spend all day playing video homicidal fantasy games! There was 33 mass shootings in the entire 70s and only 2 of them had double digit fatalies 11 and q0 respectfully. When you feel you need an automatic assault weapon to feel safe your living in a 3rd World Country!!! The NRA has helped create this madness. I once had double digits as their member......

Kurt Russell is one of the few Hollywood elites among actors, directors, producers, etc that I respect. He understands historically why we have the 2nd Amendment. You cannot legislate morality by restricting our rights to protect ourselves, our families, and property. If someone has an evil heart looking to harm or kill others, legislation won’t stop them. Look at Chicago! The city has some of the toughest list of gun laws, yet it has been known as the murder capital of the world several times.

USA isn't even #1 in gun deaths. But back to England now. You have groups of people walking into peoples homes because they know they have no weapons. Sitting down on peples couches and harassing parents in front of their kids. Would they try that in a place where they know the could have guns? No. You also have gangs of people mugging and stabbing people to death just pulling them into alley ways 3-5 guys stab them leave them there to die. NON gun violence is high but that's okay right? At least its not a gun? You can't tell if you are crazy enough not to live in NY,LA or Chicago now and not carry? That's suicide. I've had a 1911 since 15 no one knows.
