What us the purpose of that big patch of land in the middle of the lake? Is it man made?

Is this that same area where a plane was trying to takeoff, banked and crashed towards the left into those buildings not too long ago?

Beautiful Aircraft!!

Okay, the pontoons are both low I think, certainly the right is lower than the left. Also the is fuselage the right word? Behind the engine there is a gap where there should be no gap. Bruised plane, may recover, glad no injuries...

So. Where was the wreckage. What was removed. Guys in a yellow boat go back and forth in 15 minutes. Sorry. What is this?

Radials instead of PT6s. For historical reasons? Great looking plane. I used to watch them up in Kodiak flying in and out of the harbor.

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and flies like a duck, it's a Grumman Goose! 😁😅😂🙃

WOW !! Beautiful video! Thank you ! I’ve been fortunate enough to have sailed on five Transatlantic voyages aboard QM2. She is a majestic and elegant ocean liner , both inside and outside. One of a kind! Not a run of the mill cruise ship, but a true express liner that harkens back to the Golden Age of Sea Travel from the 1900’s thru 1950’s !😌

Such an interesting tow. Apparently originally built as a retractable wheelhouse vessel in 1967 by St. Louis Ship, she was converted to a fixed pilothouse after being purchased by Ingram Marine in 2002. Sold to Yazoo River Towing in late 2022/early 2023 and renamed Melanie Hart to honor Yazoo President Patrick Smith's daughter. Her lines remind me somewhat of the Great Lakes ore and product ships, especially the wheelhouse. Haven't seen here lock theough in real time yet, so thanks to STL for the rewind!

"The plane! The plane!" No WAIT. That's a Goose. Even more impressive than a Widgeon.

The Widgeon from that show was a French built SCAN with R-680s. Dreadful airplane, particularly if compared to a nice McKinnon Widgeon.

Beautiful! Not bad for an 80 year old flying boat. Grumman ironworks and dedicated maintenance. I'd like to think that if and when I hit 80 I'm in such great condition!

Great footage! And, yes, she's a magnificent vessel. As a point of trivia, I know they time her departure very carefully to coordinate with the tides--ensuring the tides are low enough for her to clear the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Thanks for the lovely images of her departure.
