I don’t care what anyone says, Mafuyu and her mother are victims of generation trauma. The way Mafumom talked about Mafuyu going to eventually “regret” her choices of studying and such sounded like she regrets not studying more. She also previously said she used to want to do nothing but hang out with her friends around Mafuyu’s age. If Mafuyu never found Kanade and the rest of N25, she would probably be led into marriage then children-where she would become similar to Mafumom. Kanade and the rest of N25 literally broke a cycle in my opinion. But this is all a theory, it’s not canon that Mafumom went through trauma, but I think it makes sense if she went through something similar.

Mafuyu's family situation/dynamic reminds me of Amity's from the Owl House. The mother was in total control of the daughter's life, not giving a care about how she (the daughter) felt about it, even resorting to dirty tricks to make sure she stays on the path she (the mother) chose for her. But the father had no idea what was going on, and comforted the daughter when he realized how she was really feeling.
