Should have posted this a year ago, at which time Dr Manolakis was instrumental in saving my life. Was hospitalized on August 11, 2022 after...well TMI as to actually what happened, I did pass out twice. An ambulance 🚑 took me to Baptist where I spent 4 days with a SALINE DRIP , pretty good food, in a private room (!!). The endoscopy revealed two bleeding ulcers which Dr M. cauterized. Was told no more NSAID meds forever (I think). Tylenol only. So no more stomach pains but I have developed a pouch (chubby tummy) which is probably part of being 76 . 🚑ONE last important thing: along with Amy, my neighbors Vince and Jill Sizemore were also there to rescue me!!⛑

The hemorrhoid is supposed to be outside the anus after the banding ligation?? That was my case and the 2nd day it was excruciatingly painful and now I’m into 5 days and I notice the size is getting shrunk a bit but still with some discomfort and pains especially when sitting .. What should I do?

Well, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yes, I used what I mentioned the other day. It actually took a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and the pain unexpectedly disappeared so quickly.

I had to have the Miralax/ Dulcolax prep prior to Hernia Surgery. As I have IBS, this prep was nothing to me! Might be for others, I guess...but the Prep is most of my daily life...a little bit worse but not much!

It's hurt do not listen if anyone reading this. Where I did mine wasn't a good experience as I'm seeing people describe to be. First day I wait a little before go home and i started to feel dizzy and see blurry about to passout. Thankfully, some people carry me back inside so the guy lose it up was extremely painful. I wait i manage to drive without sit was crazy how i drove home. I can see this rubber outsite.... of course the procedure wasn't success i got a white dead skin. I just went for the second time this guy i really don't know why he try kll me alive... this time don't feel dizzy It's painful feel burning and itching. I run to the emergency they told me i should go back to the doctor that did it... plus they called him he said come back to lose it which last time it wasn't feeling good touching it at all... I cry asked God to take control the weel for to get home safe. No i didn't go back and i will not let a human being hurt me silencelly. The area is painful feel hard ooh my Lord. That doctor smart because i told him i could see it last time and question him if it was external he did. So the right side he did the same but he make sure he pouch it in before place the rubber band... I know the surgery painful if you are a color skin like i am just do the surgery because they will not care where they place it to hurt. Im in day one It's hell... no will not go again to get it done.

I think the problems with the colonoscopy and getting people to do them are, A: The prep, and B: doctors pushing anesthesia. The prep is unpleasant. I had one failed prep attempt and had to reschedule the procedure for the end of this month. By unpleasant, I don't mean the liquid itself, you can use generic citrus Miralax from Walmart, and it mixes well with things like Gatorade. I mixed mine with apple juice and it tasted fine,. I mean, it wasn't a GOOD taste, but it wasn't as bad as people said. The problem isn't even the bathroom trips. There's enough time to be at the other end of the house watching tv and still make it. No, the problem is the empty stomach. Like my appointment is 2pm when I got. Prep starts 7pm the night before. That's 19 hours with zero food. Protein drinks that are clear are typically okay, but that's no substitute for food. Especially since most of us live with other people who CAN eat and drink whatever they want (like coffee WITH cream). As for the anesthesia: most websites and videos say it's a completely-safe procedure that is relatively quick, and painless. Then every doctor pushes you to get either IV or General anesthesia for a quick, safe, painless procedure. Why? Studies have shown that without sedation pain is around a 2.5-3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Further, studies have not shown any less efficacy in finding polyps with an un-sedated patient, and actually HAVE shown better success rates without anesthesia. On top of that the whole thing takes way less time and you can drive yourself home right after. That's how I'm doing mine at the end of May if I don't change my mind and opt for virtual instead.

I have had internal ones for 40 years and just had this procedure for the 3rd time, it so tight and painful this time lm ready to hang myself. Ya right go back to work afterwards, no way this is the gate to hell and far worse than childbirth. I’m going into my 4 th day no sign of anything dropping off and no sign of blood. The pressure is unbelievable. All doctors should have this procedure so they can understand the severity of the pain.

One thing to remember is that the more liquids you drink, the more time you will spend on the toilet. You may not get much sleep overnight. Take plenty of reading materials for the bathroom.
