Don Dokken was instrumental in getting Mickey Dee onto the Scorpions in 2016. With the departure of James Kottak due to substance abuse issues...... the Scorpions were hesitant about Mickeys drumming style fitting the structure of their catalog of songs. The Scorpions called upon their old friend Don for more insight and he said Mickey was the best choice.

I think Geffen was relying on the looks of the band rather than their music, ironic the full album was top-notch!!

Karyn.... he is. Very articulate, too. Could listen to him talk all day. He always uses analogies and makes interviews so colourful and interesting. I think he is somewhat damaged from his upbringing (ie, his dad being a violent alcoholic) and being kicked out of Metallica. His father was a branch manager for Bank of America, so clearly was a very smart guy and Dave clearly inherited the very smart gene (music and numbers and accountancy go hand in hand).

Great interview! Captures Mustaine and co at their peak, imo. “I wanna have a drink right now.” One of the most honest quotes ever. The battle of addiction is literally life-long for an alcoholic.
