I think people will get board John taking people through the process but you are absolutely right theirs a lot of thought that needs to go into it as being so remote you nearly have to double up on a lot of things just in case. Maybe I can do a quick chat about how I prepare. Let me think of a way so it doesn’t drag on. Basically it takes me 2 to 3 days to plan a trip and sort everything out. It's so good when you find a snag that produces fish cast after cast regardless of the size, just pure fun. A mate and I found ourselves in a similar situation throwing vibes and paddletails at a sand bank corner entrance to a small creek where we pulled up for the night. we pulled 60-70 fish out of there over a couple of hours, a lot of rats but some good keepers as well - biggest was 99cm - all were released. Another great episode snagga, looking forward to the rest of the trip footage. And to answer your question about which side - I would work both from the left to the right then back again trying to be as systematic as possible until I got a strike then work that area. I'd expect the bigger fish to be in the back eddy but not always the case. I don't have livescope but do have sounder with sidescan so still pretty much have to work at it old school once you stop moving. Cheers fella and keep them coming, can't say how much I enjoy seeing your back yard. Definitely coming to see you when things settle down here........probably during the runoff in 2025

In my estimation a perfect place for a couple of big jewies to hold in that back eddy, but the only way to get them is with the type of lure I suggested to you. Always cast up current and jigged back covering the bottom 50cms of the water column. Until I started fishing the bottom 50cms I had never caught any number of black jew on lures.Cheers mate.

@@snagabarra6232 Happy to help Dave, I would just love to see you catch a good jewie using the lure and method I explained. Landing meter plus jewies in a creek is such a load of fun and very satisfying. If you think jacks play dirty just wait till you hook a big jewie in the confines of a creek. They really will test your gear out. Cheers mate.
@johnsykes706
@johnsykes706 10 күн бұрын
Dave, I know you use a generator to top up your batteries but given that you have your Bimini up all the time have you considered putting a solar blanket on top of it? On the back eddy question, current creates walls of temperature difference and confluence that small bait fish find hard to cross. Any predatory species, Barra included will take advantage of this so I would cast down the edge of the eddy on the right to start with but the left hand point is still worthy because the bait will try and use the shallower water there to find cover so there is a good chance Barra will be patrolling the edge.

If you want a hard body lure that the Black Jew will eat get yourself some Zipbaits ZBL Vib 80-20gram. This lure has out fished any other lure that I have caught jew on by 10 to 1. I fished them extensively in the Limmen river with great success. Some days produced more than 5 jew landed and at least as many bust offs. Can be a bit expensive at times and the only place you will get these lures is on Japanese tackle websites. Currently I think Samurai Tackle would be the first outlet to try and buy some if you are interested. Cheers mate, by the way barra, jacks,golden snapper and kings are partial to them as well.
