Ontological naturalism is largely vacuous. It's a promissory note, basically saying "whatever we end up finding will be incorporated into what we call 'natural'." For instance, Newton rejected the action at a distance as being spooky, and now we treat action at a distance as part of our view of the natural world. Certainly "naturalism" does not have to mean "material" or even "physical."

Jeezus, learn how to shut your mouth. Then you'd be a lot more worth listening to. Just another clear demonstration that the hyper-rational persona is just another of the games that people play. Same as it ever was.

When you take it apart, it doesn't make logical sense. I was telling two believers not very long ago that I don't understand how God could send someone to hell for not believing when a person can't choose what they believe and don't believe. One of them said I choose to believe it is real. A person can't choose to believe anything. You either believe something is real or you don't believe something is real.

Here because of the recent "Alexander" short where the caller claimed that Jay destroyed Matt. All I'm getting from this is that Jay sure seems to enjoy the smell of his own farts.

17:00 Honestly, the fact that he felt the need to address attacks from white supremacists is still greatly concerning. I could smell the missing context on that meme, but even the full quote is weird. You can tell that the company he's surrounded by is so concerned with non-white people that he has to excuse himself, prove he's still in good standing, that she's one of the good ones. The best response I could hear to this comment is that I'm wrong and it's not like that at all. I just can't see there being a good justification for having to start there.

8:00 Here is where the Dillahunty acknowledges the problem we've beem having with the radical left for over a decade. This has done more harm every year than the mindset could ever do in a lifetime.

I'm a Boomer. I grew up completely devoid of any religion. My absolute fondest memories include Christmastime. I grew up in NY, and perhaps my favorite memory was when I was around 8. My brother was 12. My Mom, grew up under the iron fist of a strict Catholic upbringing, at the hands of an abusive mother. She still kept Christmas in her heart, and swore never to subject her kids to what she came to despise, in the Catholic church. She had sent us up to purchase a tree (they were about $7 for a good one, back then), to the annual Xmas tree lot about a mile from our house. We pulled an old beat up "Yankee Clipper" sled, as it was snowing, and cold. Most of the homes were ornately decorated, as you would expect (there were very few Jews in that neighborhood, but had moved to another with many Jews a few years later.) The snow crunched beneath our feet, as we trekked through it. It was already dark, and the air was fresh and clean. The neighborhood was silent. We didn't talk much. The peaceful quiet, the crunching virgin snow, and beautiful lights, was enough said..I hold this as one of my favorite childhood memories. How impressionable would you imagine that would be for someone of that age?! Religion had zero to do with it! Is it any wonder I wouldn't celebrate a time like that, still, today?!..Few times, in a persons life, do you feel that much peace, warmth, and contentment. You don't need god for that..I love Christmas! Always will!

My wife has been a natural atheist since her childhood. She cannot comprehend that "Christians" actually believe abortion is "murder". This illustrates how absurd the "Christian" position is. Their beliefs are so outlandish that you can't even imagine believing the nonesense unless you were raised with it.

I would say that any time someone refers to "the atheistic world view" they are referring to "any world view that doesn't include a god as a basis for morality". It's still good to correct them, but we still know what they're talking about. That said, since there are vast differences between different atheistic world views, for example nihilism on one side and humanism on another, it's still incredibly dumb to refer to them as one single worldview. If you ask a nihilist about the morality of bestiality, they'd possibly answer with "who cares, go for it", while a humanist would find the question disgusting, or at least disturbing. Always fun to see the extremes theists try to use to stir negative emotions towards who they disagree with.

You're just making excuses for not being a good debater. You're ad hominems are based off of what about Andrew Wilson? You never even got into the debate in order to even make any of the assumptions you're making in this video you yolk! What a joke 😂smh you should be ashamed to call yourself a debater 🤣

Sorry, but I can't take you seriously after this. When asked "what has Kamala done for the country", all you've done is list the positions she's had. That's not a list of things she's done for the country. Someone can be elected to a position and do nothing for the country or actively harm the country. So just saying "she was this and she was that" doesn't answer the question. Also, she's already in a position to do the things she's campaigning for and yet hasn't done any of them for 3 1/2 years.

actually i agree with redeemed zoomer about the psychological benefits. i would say 1. if there are psychological benefits to believing in god, that would point towards gods existence, 2. there are psychological benefits to believing in god, so 3. all else equal, god more likely exists than not (to any extent)

Using 'woke' as an insult, is identical to the fetish for using 'marxist' or 'communist' as an insult. Solely used by people that have absolutely no idea what the word means. They just think it is a generally insulting word - which sounds like it has more intellectual power than 'stinky poop head'.

There is a reason to think that the camera ceases to exist if you consider that spacetime is not fundamental and entertain the notion that the universe is a product of our finite minds as they perceive eternity. We 'render' objects as we observe them, the cutting edge on this research is being led by professor Donald Hoffman whom JP recently debated with, the ideas Hoffman and his team postulate are fascinating and ground breaking and would give you a much better idea of where JP is coming from.
