Thank you so much for your life and the story of Jesus Christ in your life. You have been an inspiration and influence to serve Jesus. I have still with me until now your book Intimacy with the Almighty. I learned a lot by God’s grace through this book, I dwell on the truth that my integrity is borrowed integrity because of what Jesus Christ has done in my behalf, I abide with Jesus Christ my true Friend. Thank you so Chuck for your honesty and love for Jesus Christ, blessings to you and your family from the Philippines 🇵🇭

My concern is that the Hope and Healing Institute is affiliated with an Episcopal church. That gives me pause in considering their services. My impress is that the Episcopal church allows some unbiblical practices.

Colleen, you and Max Lucado are a good team for helping us with anxiety. The anxiety I have is caused by Hyperaldosteronism an excess of the hormone aldosterone secreted because of the small non cancerous tumors on my adrenal glands. I feel peace listening to you both. Thank you! I have read many, many books written by Max Lucado. I love his picturesque writing! 🙏💕

I agree that we need to find the root cause…go to Christ for His peace. But honestly I have had numerous circumstances (physical) when I’m waiting for a surgery that will be extremely painful & long recovery, or getting injections in my r eye. I plead for His peace and sometimes I do receive it and other times I do not. God created us with the fight, flight, freeze mechanisms for times of danger. Now I can see where society now jumps into fight, flight or freeze in circumstances so frequently that it turns into panic attacks, etc. my point is that I still pray to my Rock and Redeemer in every circumstance but I am not always relieved of some fear and sometimes I am. I have come to the conclusion that as long as I bring my situation to Him and I do my best with my therapy coping skills I’ve learned, I just now view my fear as “just being there for a time”. I’d like to hear your comments.

Your comment couldn’t have come at a better time. Like you, requests for peace, healing, relief, fear, and more continue to be what I pray. My son is currently enduring ANOTHER 72 hour EEG and other brain studies; he will be 27 this month. On a human level, his challenges have grown, not lessened. And my physical pain . . . it’s continued. We are not always relieved of hardships on this side of heaven, yet I love Paul’s words which reinforce the longing for heaven when all will be made new and right. I pray you are given endurance, undeniable Holy Spirit comfort, and the continued ability to see beyond today’s troubles. Always persisting in prayer, we trust and lift one another to Jesus who also endured for a greater purpose. Thank you for reaching out. - Colleen

100 Percent. Everything you said. I tried to join a grief recovery group at a megachurch in town while going through a divorce I never saw coming, (after 30 years of marriage.). I was told no; that divorce didn’t count. Needless to say, ten years later the same mega church is now well known for being yet another heretical prosperity gospel cesspool. Still. The rejection was devastating at the time. Thank God alone, I can laugh about it now.

I am so sorry to hear how you were devastated and wounded during your divorce season. It’s thoroughly shocking to experience the betrayal that comes from those you have trusted in your greatest time of need. Yet, to hear you have worked through a healing process is the only choice that sets you free. I pray you are now being used by Jesus to be that needed comfort. So encouraging to hear from you! - Colleen

I still love and trust our Lord and savior, despite the corruptness in people once trusted, they will answer to God one day abusing there power, to vulnerable one day, I still trust in the Lord, and in our Lord and savior, but not corrupt untrustworthy people we were supposed to trust with things such as housing, ECT. Pray for our enemies that do wrong to the wrong people! Or the nasty people that get a kick out of heartaches, pray for sad mean souls like that, the lost

This interview has touched my heart so deeply, I am ever grateful for the way the Lord used his humility to help him through to be used for His glory. My life was not in anyway as challenging as his but I know of the validation of my choral director seeing in me something I never knew would bloom into opportunities to study abroad, attend the Peabody Preparatory school as a teenager and become a Fulbright Scholar. All because of her my music teacher seeing in me what I never knew was there. My home church and childhood pastor all were brooks in the way to becoming a Music Educator for 39 years, serving in music at my church and passing that love of music to thousands of students . So thankful that God is the one who places people in our lives to help us come to know Jesus and build relationships that are empowering and encouraging us to serve the Lord!

This is an amazing interview. Colleen, you did an absolutely wonderful job of allowing your dad to talk and interjecting when you needed to. Good interviewing is a lost art. Well done. And to your dad, who I have listened to for 40 years, whose books I have read, who’s sermons and words have changed my life-I can only say that I admire him even more if that’s possible. He was the original Harry Potter in his youth. And then he became a modern day Mary Poppins as president of the theological seminary. He not only opened every window. He blew the doors off! I love this man!! I am so grateful that I will be able to spend eternity with both of you. May God richly bless your family!

I was able in the 70's to be able to listen to the radio all day while listening to Chuck Swindoll, and many other Godly Preachers while raising my girls!!! We were so very poor. But I had God,so I was rich beyond gold!!! My girls and their friends and their friend's friends and their neighbor's kids and their friends were running all over the house and in the yard. All the while, the Gospel of God was streaming into their little ears, and my dear Christian neighbor and me were having regular prayer as all that was going on. Sometime we would run into a kid while we were walking through the house praying and praising and declaring God's power over those kids and our husband's who weren't believers. Best times of our lives!!! I love Jesus He is my friend, and my LOVE!!! I NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE. ONLY A HIGH SCHOOL GRAD. My husband, too!!! But I had/ HAVE the Creator as my FATHER!! I AM SO THANKFUL!!!!

I always felt that Pastor Chuck taught the Word with incredible sensitivity and his words were always so encouraging~! I listened to his radio messages in the 1980s and 1990s daily and read many of his books. His kindness was evident and I always came away convinced that his message was laced with this purpose: "...that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. " I never knew the things that he went through as a child until this interview came up in my feed. I cannot comprehend parents being indifferent to their own child, they missed an incredible blessing in not knowing him. We are the richer for it. Thank you for sharing this. ❤

In the shadows of others, God had a grander plan; and He does for each of us who seek His will and to know Him as our true Father. Another grand reminder to all of us . . . to value and truly seek to know others as they are and not as we wish them to be. Thankful for your faithful connection to this wonderful ministry. - Colleen

31:45 I so love Pastor Chuck Swindoll. I can relate to his story. My mom told me how ugly I was. parents always reminded me I was a mistake or accident. I never heard my Father say I love you. To keep your sanity you must learn to cope. Destroys a child's self esteem. To this day I never take selfie or pictures. I hear my parents voices thinking Ill hear I love You. But I know I never will. I've lost all my parents and grandparents. I thought because my parents didn't want me God didn't. That was costly. I read Pastor Chucks book The Grace Awakening. Changed my life. Through his teaching at Insights and Stonebriar Community Church has taught me that God loves me unconditionally. Thank You Pastor Chuck. Thank You Mrs. Thompson for this interview. It must be an blessing having a Godly man like Pastor Chuck as your Dad.

I’m deeply moved by your story. I'm so very sorry for the haunting words you internalized as a child . . . yet it's impossible not to when something is said over and over. Isn’t it life-giving to have God’s timeless and true promises? He will NEVER leave or forsake us, He is with us, loves us, has a GOOD plan for our lives . . . even if those who raised us never saw or cultivated it. I pray the ministry continues to fill you with God’s presence, purpose, and peaceful comfort. - Colleen

I’ve loved this beloved Bible teacher since I discovered him on the radio about 40 years ago. He’s put flesh on so many books of the Bible and it’s historic characters. I never realized the shoes he had to walk in, the trials he had to navigate 35:49 through to. I’ve always loved his special laughter…so contagious. I listened to Chuck Slidell on the radio every morning for about two years in the 1980s. I thought he was wonderful. Then one morning he started ranting about the Catholic church. I couldn't believe the lies that were coming out of his mouth and the hatred in his voice. I had been raised with very religious and knowledgeable Protestant grandparents but never heard anything like this. I was devastated. I had thought so much of him. After watching this I guess maybe I can see where this ignorance and hatred came from.

I am 62 years old. I came to the Lord Oct. 1, 1982. After marrying in 1983 and 21 years old learning the ways of this Christian life... I began to listen to Chuck Swindoll on the radio every morning before going to work. As he told the story of Joseph, the Bible came alive to me... as a story of real people struggling with things I could relate to in my life. I was a girl who grew up with sexual abuse and went through abortion as a teen.... And I can still hear your Dad's voice quote Joseph's words to his brothers, "you meant it for evil but God meant it for good! ". The love in his voice as he brought the Bible alive to me was the foundation of a life as an overcomer! I've been through many loves and losses and am now a widow, but my God is always with me and always for me. I'm grateful for your Dad! It's an honor to pass on the baton I got from your Dad! Blessings!
