Thanks Ray, you’ve captured the dynamism of the Mossie in this video. I believe the Mossie to be the best multi-role aircraft to come out of WW2, but then I’m biased. Pity it's leaving our backyard. Well done and I look forward to your next venture.

Good to see the Mossie in the Southern Hemisphere. Understandably the owner from USA to wants see it go it's new home. Hopefully it might come back in the future. I met a retired RAAF Wing - Commander (Retired). He flew a Hurricane, a number of different versions of Spitfires, Mustangs, Kittyhawkes and the Mosquito. He said the Mossie was in his expericne the far and best all round aircraft produced by the Allies.

The Hawker Sea Fury had a 5 bladed propeller not a 4. due to the 4's diameter being too large for carrier work. The Hawker Tempest had the 4 bladed prop.

Same here, I know there is a shortage of available Centaurus engines versus air worthy Airframes but the four bladed prop and American engine replacement just looks and sounds wrong on such a beautiful aircraft ,.... exactly the same as the mk2 Lancaster with four Bristol Hercules engines - just plain wrong . but both pale into insignificance when compared with a Buchon HE 1112 - a BF 109 with a flaming MERLIN !!! and buchon made hundreds of them after the war..............I know in 1969 there werent that many air worthy 109's. but because of that aircraft and that other gem the Casa c2.111 - a merlin engined HE111.....I cringe at watching the Battle of Britain movie.....thank god there were enough Merlins still about .....imagine what an abortion a mk 1 Spitfire would have looked with a DB 601 or a Jumo in it !

@@wilburfinnigan2142 I'm sure its easier to keep an R-2800 running compared to a Centaurus and I agree that its nice to keep flying things actually flyable. I just wonder how hard it would be to fit a 5-blad prop onto an R-2800 and get the looks right.

@@zebop917 The problem is the USA prop shafts on its engines are not the same as the Brits, who just have to be back assward, Their engines were left hand, American engines turn to the right, so 5 blade won't work plus the Brits engines have a different sized prop shaft and splines. so they have to use the American 4 bladed prop on the American engine !! !

1:20 in, the original engine was a Bristol CentauRUS not a Centaur......go hang your head in shame, lol !! but no seriously I absolutely loved the vid, there's not nearly enough coverage of such a lovely Aircraft, btw a quick rule of thumb to determine which particular engine is in a specific aircraft, although there can be exceptions sometimes, is the Centaurus ALWAYS has a five bladed prop the American Engine is usually a four blader. For my money the centaurus wins hand down for engine sound, the engine note is smoother yet fussier than the American engines and to my mind sounds far more business like with a lovely subdued hum/whistle from its supercharger as it passes overhead. As on this particular example the trainer version with its double length canopy detracts from the aircrafts business like look - take a look at the standard fighter version to see what I mean.

@@wilburfinnigan2142 You might like to know that the smaller brother of the Bristol Centaurus - the Bristol Herculese - was in routine service up to 1985, in the French Nord Noratlas. So maybe those Bristol sleeve-valve radials were not quite the pieces of junk you call them.

I don't remember the Connie with favor. March 1970 they were used as awacs ,one developed problems and crashed on top of us. Luckily we only lost an F4 and no personnel but it was a scramble getting the rest of our planes away from the fire. Sadly the personnel on board weren't so lucky.

That was a NAVY Constellation that stalled and crashed on landing at Da Nang. The #3 engine was shut down, but that shouldn't have had any bearing on the landing... I have 2500 hours on USAF EC-121's, and probably 25-30 "3 engine landings".
