There is 0% chance anyone could find the mind state meditating on their own. It is a mental energy that the teacher transmits into the students consciousness.

Some never have a home in the conventional sense, or become homeless. This does not come into this talk because privilege, and i think and feel that it should.

Kim Kogen Dai Ho Hart is an excellent teacher based on this lecture. She discussed a difficult subject--Reality as it is without words--in a comprehensible manner. Thank you!

I refused to touch Rinzai for many years and clung to “Soto practice”. But actually, Meido-Roshi’s books inspired me to visit and learn about Rinzai. I’m very grateful for Meido-Roshi.

The schools pretty much merged in Japan by the 16th century. There was barely a divide in China, nor Korea. The divide is mostly literary and polemical. In Japan the separation of the sects was literally decreed by the Meiji emperor. So... it's pretty much false. This history has been known for a long time. Pretty wild that SFZC is just now getting to understand this. Also, your Covid policies are more dividing and politically segregating than any Meiji decree. Vaccine injured practitioners aren't allowed to practice there.... even after we were residents. Get educated on the history of Zen, SCIENCE, and get out of your insanely leftist/woke bubble. Your centers deserve to fail and be forgotten.

before the meiji restoration there was literally no divide. they were forced to define themselves or to be disbanded.

It all depends on the point of view when intellectually speaking. Let's suppose you are watching the corpse of your young daughter in the casket. You are seeing only one side of the picture: your side. Now, can we put ourselves in the position of the corpse to experience what is happening in it? Logically and empirically, NO! So, to speak about reincarnation and rebirth, which is the same concept repeated twice, is a ridiculous assumption designed to dupe you into entering a sect that promises to clarify the story. Gullible people will go to any extent to fend off the fear of Death by clasping the assumption of rebirth, preached by these kinds of robed ignorants. Study the account of Dogen Zenji, when satori visit him, upon hearing Zen master Tiantong Rujing, chastising a monk that was dozing off during zazen, saying: "Zazen is dropping of body and mind". These words triggered satori in Dogen's mind. Later, when visiting Master Tiantong Rujing, he introduced himself with the following words: "I have come with body and mind completely dropped off. Studying, thinking, memorizing, meditating on these words, disassembling them, reassembling them, playing with the words, uttering them in front of a mirror as if you were Dogen, copying them every day several times, is all that you need in terms of intellectual work. At the same time, I say, based on my personal experience, that it is possible to die while alive and be reborn within the same body while alive. It's all a matter of point of view, and until the dragon of Satori does not burn you, you will be making fruitless efforts and pathetic efforts. The sangha is a hindrance, a permanent distraction. The chance of Satori visiting you decreases dramatically in the company of humans and is mostly confined to the males of the species. Satori may meet you, and I stress MAY, because there is no guarantee at all, even after a long time of meditation, study, thinking, and mulling over a single wise word or phrase, or it may not. PERIOD. Satori, in my personal experience, abhors whatever is plural: words, texts, sutras, mantras, and long periods of meditation in a regimented environment. You can't "GET" enlightened. From my point of view, there is no birth; so, logically, there is no death. Think about it; you may profit from clarifying what I said to you. May you be brave!

Tim, it’s not too late to find the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God. Turn to the Orthodox Christian monastics and Saints who are illumined and deified. Christ will have mercy on you and save you. Look up Fr. Seraphim Rose or Elder Ephraim of Arizona. It’s not too late. God bless

Steve Jobs believed in it and using its core beliefs believed he could conquer his cancer. Didn't work out so well. Also why do priests, monks, and so on have to have their own costume. Is it less holy or enlightening if you wear modern clothes that actually work better but aren't "traditional".

Dear Kim, Thank you so much for your dharma sharing. Today is the anniversary of my grandfather's passing and I have also visited my father's grave as well. The Five Remembrances brought much consolation to my soul and I am grateful to continue beholding life's fragility as our inheritance. Peace be with you 🤲🏼🕊
