British staffies look different than they did back then, they where taller, weighed more and had a slightly longer muzzle, the Irish staffy is the closest to the old type today

I have a concern I’m hoping someone could help me with. I’ll try to be brief. I inquired about an Amstaff on petfinder when she was only 3 months old. By the time they got back to me with an application and then an answer from the application, two months had passed. Now it’s two months later and I’m finally hearing from the foster home where she’s been living and she’s about 7 months old now. The foster home said that she worked full time and hasn’t been able to train her much. She’s just getting crate training and hasn’t been fully potty trained. She allows her on all of the furniture and has access to the whole house. I’m a first time staffy owner and I’m wondering should I take this pup out should I get a younger one that I can train properly from a younger age? This dog will require a lot of corrective behavior training that I have zero experience doing. I pick her up in two weeks. Please help me decide. Thanks.

My Pittie is very sensitve. I tell him I am dissappointed in him when he acts out he looks heart broken and hangs his head.after a few minutes I hug him and tell him I love him. Thor was slightly hard to train. I used some of your training methods to train him plus studying the breed. Thor is great around children and people he has never met. He goes to stores and meets people twice a week. IHe gets very excited at ( am thursdays and sundays which are His days to go to town. I love my pittie Super smart and loving.

They are the same breed they come from the same stock but its like breeding the taller ones together and the shorter ones together. They both show no signs of quit they will keep going and going until they are literally exhausted and pass out. They are the best dogs in the world they love their owner like no other.

Both links I click do not work. I believe I have an AmStaff. She is 10 yrs old, 70 +\- #, loyal, extremely smart. I've given her commands she'd never done before - she'll look around, sniff a couple of times and do what I said. She can even spell ! Please send working links for training and if you have any - behavior modifications. She prefers to have access to the whole house. When young she was crated and was ok with it but later showed me she no longer needed or wanted that. If she cannot access a space in the house, she had torn the door frame or part of the near by wall to get to the space. She is highly tuned to everyone's emotional statis and she is a Registered ESA - for me. Thank for this channel. I just discovered it. I will be back. OH YA - and she is highly prone to Mass Cells Tumors. She's have 1 surgery where 3 were removed - 1 was Active, 1 burned off and is awaiting the removal of another Active. There are two other bumps I recently found which DOC has not seen yet. Her mom reportedly had several - with non active. How common is this and is there an solution ? Thank you again. !

And some "loving" protective staffies who have photographs lying next their young children have chewed off their face a few years later. They are instinctive killing machines, and need not only ONLY intelligent, diligent, mature owners but rigorous training and never bee in public parks unleashed.

A staffie has attacked and destroyed my Yorkie. He "playfully" according to the owner ran up to my dog, from a distance and as my mum picked my darling Jez he pushed them both over and grabbed my baby shook her and crushed her death in a split second. My mother has 2 blue eyes, a cut.lip, scratched chin, brushed right hip, scraped and bruised knees, and a bitten hand that needed doctor,anti- tet,and antibiotics. She is 83, my baby Yorkie was 9 months old. This monster killer was not on a lead, but is really "playfull",so "loving", has 3 different family members apparently who are all the owners, and randomly walk him, he is already 2!!!!! How does a killing machine EVER UNLEARN TO NOT KILL.

Sincerely I'm sorry to hear it. By all means take legal action or do whatever you need to do, I certainly would in your situation. But I do want to throw you this. As with most terriers your Yorkie was a 'killing machine' as well. The entire breed was exclusively created to kill rats and most GLADLY still would if given the opportunity. Was he any less playful or loving? Redirects are also incredibly common in dog fights especially if you're not terribly knowledgeable at breaking it up. Irresponsible and outright bad owners exist and it's certainly not exclusive to Staffords. I don't expect you to ever come around to them, but I hope one day you do consider what I'm saying.

Very true about pit bulls, the drive and gameness comes from them being terriers. They’re not stupid dogs and you must demand respect from them like a Dalmatian

We adopted a one year old staffy boy. He's a wonderful boy, super sweet despite coming from a rough background. He was starved nearly to death. He will tell us when he has to go out when we are home but when we leave he will go pee and/or poo in our bathroom. We come home on lunch to let him out to ensure it's not too long but he will accident by that time and often again when we get home. How can we train this part?

I've owned APBT's all my life but my last dog was an English Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She was hands down the easiest dog to train and the most affectionate and eager to please! The prey drive was a bit lower than my APBT's but still strong. I could never break her of her cat aggression but didn't really try since we didn't have cats. Just had to watch her when out on walks.

Agree they have special needs but people with their ignorant stigma can get fucked. They are hands down the BEST and most loyal friend you will ever have and thrive with good training, love and leadership. I don’t trust people that don’t understand that about staffies anyway!
