I am currently writing a covering letter for a open position that I really really want. I don't have all of the experience they are looking for and my imposter "experiences" (exactly the way it feels!) that comes about at times like this just makes me feel rubbish. Alas, I'll apply - for if I don't then I'll be no better off. Everything is a learning experience is it not? Thanks for the video - I've got a little boost.

Yes, they’ve definitely been hit by the streaming wars which has meant they have lost a lot of their popular shows.

If they are so high performing why does it feel like we spend more time trying to find something decent on netflix to watch, rather than actually watching stuff. Also if they are against medium performing staff why do they have so much poor quality content on their site? Why not less content but content of a decent quality.
@Patrick_Doig
@Patrick_Doig 9 ай бұрын
Fair points. I believe that they are not aiming to maximise the best quality content - their aim is to make the most profit. Therefore, they end up with a small a number of quality shows that draw in subscribers (eg Stranger Things) combined with a large number of shows that are cheap to make (eg the Floor is Lava) to fill out their library. As long as they keep the mix just good enough to keep subscribers they will make the most money.

Thanks for the message. Although, sorry to confuse you, but I don’t have ADHD myself. That video was an interview with a fantastic colleague of mine who does have ADHD, who was speaking about it to raise awareness and understanding about it.

Hi Patrick. I really enjoyed this video and it is good to know that the benefits of introversion are recognised (at least by introverts!) and that it is possible to have a highly successful career as an introvert - thank you. In the modern business world, particularly as a leader within a large, disparate organisation, it seems that there is a need to build networks, create relationships, make introductions to peers and stakeholders, build support for proposals, seek out information and so on that are, at best draining and at worst nigh on impossible as an introvert. I would be interested to learn more about your journey as a successful introvert in a business environment and how you deal with these challenges (and, from a totally selfish perspective, whether you have any tips that you can share with the rest of us!)

Thanks, that’s very kind. I think this was my first ever video so was pretty simple, but I’m glad some people have enjoyed it. I will do some more videos on introversion soon.

I originally uploaded this video back in April, but it was my first video with an external microphone and the audio was awful as all my levels were wrong. I thought the content was good, but it was ruined by the dodgy sound. I've done my best to clean up the sound as best I could. If you’re one of the handful of people who watched it first time round, sorry for dragging you back again!

Hi, thank you for your sharing. I would like to ask you a question. If someone in the meeting takes too much time to talk and expresses their ideas, what should I say to stop them 😢❤
@Patrick_Doig
@Patrick_Doig 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! It’s much easier if you set expectations at the start of a meeting or item, to clarify how long the item has and what it’s purpose is (update, discussion, decision). Then you can refer back to this if someone is taking up too much time. For example, if it was a 15 minute discussion item, you can interrupt and say ‘sorry to interrupt, you’re making some great points, but we only have 15 minutes for this item and I would like to bring other people into the discussion’.

I was raised to always work hard and give 100% as that used to work. In modern times this quality did nothing except get me exploited both by management and lazy employees. I am now a solid 60%er unless I'm working for my own glass company I am trying to build up. Unless you are working for yourself there is no point in working any harder than anyone else.

I watched this video all the way through and honestly enjoyed it, but I honestly didn't expect to see 3 comments and only 255 views (as of this moment) and you only having 229 subscribers! this was very well done, very well thought out, and very well edited. I honestly didn't expect this, and I might start going back to the drawing board with my schedule. thank you!

In 2021, I worked as a receiver in the Google kitchen. My manager was the only one out of his own team to implemented a break schedule. My team hated this and say that the manager is blaming on us and using this as a way to punish us. We also failed multiple inspections. Because I was the receiver for deliveries, I could never go to my break on time. My manager gave me 3 write ups(all within 2 months) for failing to go to my break on time.(A 4th write up will have me fired). I took my case to the Union and had my record erased and my manager backed out until I put a transfer for the next available position. From this, I learned never to give my 100% in the workforce. I only do enough to not get in trouble or have my managers questioned me on my work. I dont feel the need to impress my managers anymore because I dont care about promotions. I still work in the same company but looking for remote job now because corporate can easily replace you.
