As a fan in general, I often get her recent tour clips on my feed. I was and remain shocked when considering the views and "altered" renditions. I am saddened and sense in my gut she must be struggling. She has 0 compromise yet, i pray she can catch a much needed rest. ~

Sometimes what you think you need to "fix" is really just your preference as a teacher, and your desires. Be cognizant of the talents an artist brings to the table, honor that, and be a support in the areas they need your help or want it. Being assertive however, when they have succumbed to your teaching, to offer a new idea of support is your right, as teacher, just don't consider it "fixing" them, consider it helping them be more sustainable at their gifting and talents, and improving their knowledge of what's out there to help them be better prepared for the long haul in their profession :🙂

So true Doreen! Context is everything. This video leans into the values of NeuroVocal. We learn how to offer support and sustainable skills without “fixing” by leaning into how brains like to work! 🧠

You should. One of the tools I use most often is the mic I set up for my singers. From "do I need to emit that much air?" when singing in a breathy voice to "oh gosh, but that's so loud! what do I do?" when belting to "does that sound conversationally?" when doing singer-songwriter stuff. it's essential. Get one while you can ;-)

To many musicians conflate practice, rehearsal, and performance. Practice is like working out/training. It MAY be fun, but that's irrelevant. it needs to be ultra focused, and thus (relatively) brief with many breaks between efforts.

These ideas have given me a springboard from which to try some other options. During Covid, I hosted backyard “recitals” for my voice students. They felt less-intimidating as official recitals because of the setting and casual feel. As recital halls and event centers were closed, my students needed opportunities to share what they had learned, but it needed to be in a safe space, too. People brought their own lawn chairs to my backyard and I served refreshments at the end. They were a little less work for me because I didn’t have to reserve a space in advance and haul my sound equipment to another location. The downsides were that I couldn’t include my piano students, and weather was a potential issue. One recital was affected by the uncertainty of rainstorm and several participants backed out just prior to the starting time. The storm blew over just in time and we held a smaller recital that went very well. I love the idea of calling an event a showcase instead of a recital. I’m going to adopt this term for future use and am inspired to try the outdoor option again. Thank you for your expertise and great podcasts!

A big hug my friend Meredith!!...No one better than you, to make a reaction video and analyze this incredible singer who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"? well, just like that)...In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"...Since then all this madness began on the internet, KZfaq and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano...You can see in KZfaq to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mKqIZqmZ0t-ykZc.html

Was thinking of buying this speaker but would mainly be using (with a decent mic) for a home karaoke setup for parties. Would you imagine it will be powerful enough for this use? It will be microphone only as we have a separate set up for the music.
@MeredithColby
@MeredithColby Жыл бұрын
I think it would be perfect for that! So much easier for the singer than trying to get the sound from the speakers, and less chance for feedback if the speakers are in front of the singer.
