Playing “La Campanella” Live is very difficult, Miyako has played this better, but to play this Live in the middle of a metal concert is not easy! 🤘

👘 On April 1st, 2018 BAND-MAID announced on their social media that they were changing their focus and would be re-branding as "BAND-MAIKO". Then they released this video. At the end of the day they stated they had changed their minds, and would be reverting back to "BAND-MAID". : ) One cool thing is that Miku changed the singing and modified the lyrics to use the traditional dialect and phrasing from the old Capital of Kyoto that is identified with Geisha culture. Kanami worked with their sound engineer to add virtual traditional instruments. BTW, a maiko is an apprentice geiko in Kyoto and Western Japan. That's the regional equivalent to a geisha. You'll probably like 'Gion-cho'. It's the featured single on the BAND-MAIKO mini-album that also contains Maiko versions of several BAND-MAID songs, including this one. Although she is from Kumamoto, Miku is very fond of Kyoto and visits it whenever she can.

5:50 - The howling is common in Kabuki (Japanese theater). A few easter eggs - Miku's calligraphy writing at the beginning translates to "World Domination". MISA usually performs barefoot and doesn't sing but wears sandals and howls in this video. Akane not wasting time eating is a nod to her insatiable appetite for noodles. Parts of this song's lyrics were altered from Secret My Lips to reflect Japan's Kyoto dialect (where this video was filmed). MISA and Kanami do a synchronized rock pose after Saiki finishes her slow verse. Also during filming, Kanami dropped her guitar pick but her geisha outfit was so heavy she couldn't reach it and had to get someone to pick it up for her.

I absolutely love this song. Perfectly placed in the later 1/2 of the songs of the J.D. Album, right before Dissonance and SSS. A note on the video: the video was a ripped copy of a paid livestream from September 2023, I think a lot of people assumed, myself included, that they wouldn't bother with taking that footage and making a Blu-ray out of it. Well I was wrong, they had many more camera angles, high quality recording and sound was captured correctly separately from this stream. So they made a Blu-ray with some incredible, amazing high quality imagery and with an incredible mix. We previewed the whole Blu-ray on August 12th, they played the whole thing, but the video of course was taken down immediately following the end. This can be heard on three of their recent videos released: "We are the resurrection [Live]" "Rising [Live]", and "Soldier Stands Solitarily [Live]" Great visuals and great sound. Top shelf quality! "La Campanella" by Hungarian Romantic-era composer Franz Liszt is widely considered by professional musicians as one of the most difficult piano pieces to play. Liszt composed "La Campanella" as a transcription of a violin piece by Niccolò Paganini. The original was already renowned for its difficulty on the violin, and Liszt's adaptation elevates the challenge for pianists even further. BTW, this video was a rip from the LIVE stream of the Tokyo leg of Lovebites' "Judgement Day" tour held last year. As such, what you have witnessed was raw with no post-production and yet the ladies still sounded awesome ! Band Maiko is a copycat band to Band-Maid. That's why you never see the 2 bands in the same room.

Maiko are trainee Geisha. All the people you see on screen have different names than the original Band Maid. They did an original song as well covering Band Maid songs. This Aprils Fools timing was very popular but very time consuming. They sang in a different dialect I think and one day the band are said to meet in a battle of supremacy at a tea ceremony. But so far both bands remain silent on the subject.

Maiko’s are Geisha’s in training. Geisha’s are like traditional entertainers that wear that white makeup and kimono. This was an April fools joke where they pretended to split up and reform as Band Maiko. It was so popular they ended up doing a small album of 7 songs which are 6 covers of their own songs and 1 original all with the traditional instruments added in.

There have been lots of bands who could play hard rock and metal, but writing and performing a truly beautiful ballad is completely different thing, and few bands can pass the test. I think Nemophila have turned in one of the most beautiful power ballads of all time. That guitar duet is just sublime.

He has acoustic versions for murder and troubles and some others as well I highly recommend them but that’s just because I appreciate his lyricism so much and you can really her them stripped back from the beats. That’s not to say i don’t love his beats because i do. Just consider doing a first time reaction to an acoustic version 1st
