I always liked that van on the show, nice detail but not overdone

I forgot about the short bit of footage after the 'DukesFest'. I was doing some playing around with a police officer friend of mine, at a Church's Fall carshow outreach event. He chased me around a bit & I slid the General around in the dirt. Whoever was filming this for me - forgot to film the police car chasing me around...they only filmed me kinda practicing before the event?

I will say this about owning/driving the "General lee"......you feel like a Rockstar driving this car around. Especially when fireworks are going off & a huge crowd is waving & taking pics!

I was a "Dukes of Hazzard" fan from the beginning. I attended Travis Bell's 25th anniversary jump in June 2003 in Covington, GA. Then I remember Ben Jones put together the 1st 'DukesFest' later in July/Aug 2003 in Sperryville, VA. Then the event moved to Bristol, TN in 2004 - 2005. Then got bigger & moved to Nashville race track/fairgrounds for 2006 & 2007. Then John Schneider took over 'DukesFest' & it moved to Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2008. After that, it kinda stopped?

So sad. We are being limited more and more into tiny boxes. Dignity denied. Freedom curtailed. Resources taken from us. Isolation and confinement romanticized as the new normal. Wake up. Socialism is a bitch.

I thought the back of the van had a box where they kept their guns? I'm being picky but F!ng epic. Intoxicating nostalgia. The new owner must be a true fan. You sold it to finance your Dukes of Hazzard general lee build?
@trevorpaul13 күн бұрын
Correct. The van 'most of the time' had a wooden gun box in the rear - & there were atleast (2) different sizes. 1 was taller (see last episode of season 1: 'A nice place to visit'...after the 'bad guys' strip the parts off the van, notice how tall the gun box is in the rear. Then check out the 3rd or 4th episode of Season 1: 'Pros & Cons. When the van backs through the wall of the barn during the illegal prisoner fights, Hannibal is shooting a big gun from the rear seat...the rear seat has been relaxed into 'bed' position, & the gun box is smaller & actually fits 'under' that rear seat. That's the style I made for my van...but I had removed it temporarily when I filmed this video footage. I sold my General Lee at the end of 2012. I sold the van in 2022. I paid off some bills & stuck some in the bank.

@@trevorpaul I guess I should not be surprised you already did a General Lee. I haven't watched the re-runs since the 90's but it's weird what bits a data your brain decides to latch onto. Can you afford to do a Magnum PI build? I have to think those things are unubtanium expensive. Maybe a kit car as a base?

"E.T" was released in theaters June 11, 1982....I was 2 days early, but I threw a big outdoor showing of "E.T." for family, friends & neighbors. Pizzas & fireworks! The movie looked great on my 12 ft x 15 ft outdoor screen. KZfaq tried blocking this video bc of showing the movie clips on the big screen. So we edited the scenes out, & only showing the very beginning of this fun evening. Enjoy

On the exact date "Back to the Future" landed in theaters...25 years later in 2010 - I threw a massive outdoor party at my home for family, friends & neighbors. I paid for everything! We grilled burgers, hotdogs & shot fireworks. I had all my arcade & pinball games turned on for 'free play' in my garage. I showed the movie on a huge 12 ft x 15 ft screen...& had an original 81' Delorean in my driveway for photo ops. I built the big clock & hung it on the side of my house over the garage.

The 2nd TV reunion 'Dukes' movie: "Hazzard in Hollywood" had recently aired on CBS. I had read or heard somewhere that actor Ben Jones had just opened a 'roadside garage' called COOTER'S PLACE in Sperryville, VA. My wonderful Grandmother and Great Aunt took me on a trip to Washington DC & promised we'd find/stop at COOTER'S on the way back home. It turned out John Schneider was making a special appearance that same weekend. I was thrilled to be there & meet these 2 actors from 1 of my favorite TV shows ever! I also got my 1st ride ever in a 68' Dodge Charger 'General Lee' by another fan that was from Pennsylvania. It lit my fire to find my own Charger & build a 'General Lee' myself...which I did, finally in 2002. Sorry for the horrible shakey camera footage
