Once the paperwork is handed into the school district, the registered supervisor should receive a letter from the school stating that the child's paperwork has been approved for the school year.

Are the level according to grade level for EP math? I wanted to get EP for my son in the summer. He is in 1st grade about to enter 2nd grade in August. I was thinking getting EP 2 MATH. But he did the placement test and it recommended EP 3 MATH. he got two problems wrong(the three digit addition and something about fraction with people) how accurate are the placement test?
@worldofweeze
@worldofweeze Ай бұрын
Hello! I have never personally used the placement tests, so I am not sure about the accuracy. I have only ever used the level that corresponds to the grade of my child. I find it to be challenging enough for my kids, at their age, without being too overwhelming. You could hop online to view the course for free, to see what the levels are like. The online course is slightly different from the workbook, but you should be able to gauge a general idea from that!

Is it true you have to find someone qualified to check your childs portfolio? How does that work? Do you go to them, them to you, online?
@worldofweeze
@worldofweeze Ай бұрын
Yes, that is true for PA. At the end of every school year, me and my children need to meet with a qualified homeschool evaluator for our school district. We assemble a portfolio for each child, along with other necessary documents needed. The evaluator meets with us for around 30 minutes and then signs off on the work for the year. That document then gets turned into the school district by us before the beginning of the next school year. We found our evaluators through word of mouth, but there are homeschool community groups to locate licensed evaluators. All evaluators work differently, but our current evaluator gives me a list of dates, times and locations available to meet at, and I pick a time from there. Hope that helps!

@worldofweeze
@worldofweeze 3 ай бұрын
Hi! Each lesson has text with it to provide help with teaching the lesson. If you flip to the back, to the answer key, some of the problems have more work with them than others. I have included a link to the parent guide on Amazon. If you scroll to the bottom, where previous purchasers have posted their reviews, there is one specific video with a flip through showing those last few pages. Hello. I’m glad I found your channel. I’m also in Pennsylvania. This is my first time officially homeschooling. Is it true you don’t have to teach all subjects every year?
@worldofweeze
@worldofweeze 4 ай бұрын
Hi! Congratulations on officially homeschooling! That's an exciting step! PA guidelines do ask that you touch on each of the required subjects each year, once your child is 6 years old and record keeping begins. However, it is up to you and your learning structure as to how many days/weeks through the year you want to teach certain subjects. For example, in our typical homeschool week, we do our main subjects (LA, Math, Bible, Reading...) at least 4 days a week. Art, Health, Music and the extras are usually one day a week, with a mix of other small projects throughout the week as a family. History, Science and Spanish are usually 3-4 times a week. It all depends on your kid's ages and interests and how you would like to structure your day to days🙂
