Both my parents died in hospice. My mother in 2020 and my father last Thursday August 15 2024 on my mother’s birthday. They were married for 56 years. He died peacefully and without pain just like he wanted. He died 2 days after he was admitted into hospice. The nurses and aide’s were wonderful and kind. I will be greatful forever for them. My father had his advanced directives and will complete when he died. We were blessed to have good advice.

I’m not a fan of how Don disregarded Safety & pushed production especially in times in which the coal market was weak & low, but he did know how to run a big coal company & legitimately turn a profit. If you know much about big coal companies they all rarely ever make a profit, it’s quarter after quarter of losses usually & then bankruptcy. Don was one of the few & the only one once the 2000’s hit of the big coal CEO’s that was actually not losing millions each year. But Don to often exhausted rare & valuable coal reserves when it was not necessary & he over produced so much that often it kept coal prices down & demand weak. Don simply knew which contractors like Rex Fought to put into Massey mines & let them operate the mine & those guys were the best of the best coal mine operators & they put millions of tons of Massey coal on the ground. Don cares about safety but not to the extent to let it get in the way of profits & production per man hour. That was the one thing Don was obsessed with - Production Per Man Hour. That’s dangerous often times.

i'm a paramedic and have responded to countless end of life patients who have told me that they know they are about to die, and have signed DNR documents with specific instructions on the level and type of care they are to receive. it seems that the ones who died in their home, surrounded by their families and in the comfort of their own beds seemed to die with the most peaceful look on their faces.

I saw the original version of Dowser at the WV Film Festival in Sutton, WV back in 2006. It was better because it featured the story of farmers in WV that had experienced high strangeness, cattle mutilations, men in black and more. The original version of Dowser was MUCH better.
