I bought one after watching your first video. I agree that the volume pot isn't great. Mechanically, it works okay, but below 8 or so it seems useless. I think it needs a treble bleed circuit to make it as useable as possible. The taper of the tone pot also seems to have three settings - all on, a slight roll off of highs, and a weird sound at zero. That could be improved too. The tone control on my S2 Mira is the best ever, so they know how to make one work extremely well. That said, mine plays extremely well and is very comfortable and resonant. The strings have very low tension, almost like a top-loaded tele. And I found that the pickups are very useable and don't feel like traditional humbuckers (which is what I wanted). The neck pickup is shockingly good. Not overly bassy, which was what I feared.

If you could change one thing about it, what would it be? I’m considering buying one, but it doesn’t seem like the reviewers have had much of an emotional response/connection to it. They comment on build quality and neck feel but seem neutral on the pickups.
@Sick_Strings01
@Sick_Strings01 8 сағат бұрын
For me it would be the neck as I prefer the Silver Sky SE neck. The great thing is that I could do that if I really wanted to as it attaches identically as the Silver Sky SE. From my experience with the SE line, when people refer to not having an “emotional connection” to them, it’s that the pickups seemed lifeless or clinical no mojo no soul. In the past I would say that is true but the last few years that has changed. I’ll be doing a comparison video of PRS SE guitars soon! Thanks for watching and subscribe!

Appreciate the knowledge of the bracing method and how that affects tone. Great voice by the way! The singing kinda helped me calibrate my ears for the room noise. Speaking of, I recommend using a mic with audio interface just to purify the audio a bit. Not to cover up for tonal weaknesses with EQ, but to improve accuracy of the reproduction. Doing great man! Don’t get me wrong, it is a great guitar, it’s just that when I compare it to other PRS guitars it doesn’t seem to be different enough to warrant buying it if you own a Silver Sky SE as an example. Nice review. Was on the fence about this one and you've persuaded me to leave it! I had the SE Silversky a while ago but moved it on. Nothing wrong with it, just wasn't "the one" (are they ever?!) This doesn't seem like a big enough departure from the SS for me. Probably cool for some folks though. You're right about the pickup colour too. Wonder if they're testing the water for a SE NF53?

The volume pot. Some players prefer the quick roll off. Either way it's simple to tweak to get your preference. On the finish of the neck. There has to be finish detail relative to price range. The Silver Sky is more expensive, yes?
@Sick_Strings01
@Sick_Strings01 4 күн бұрын
The Silver Sky is the exact same price! I believe the neck will smooth out with more wear but it’s definitely different. The electronics in “cheaper” guitars tend to have this problem as one would assume being of lesser quality. That’s where most brands keep the money in their pockets I’ve figured out. Quick tip on smoothing out the finish on the back of the neck. Take some simple 20wt basic copy paper. Fold it into a 5” x 5” rectangle. Carefully rub the paper up and down the back of the neck. Do it lightly, be gentle. This will take off high spots in the finish and kind of close off some tiny pours in the wood. If the neck has any overspray on it, this should knock down the “grit”.

The NF3 sounded like a Hybrid when mating the Classic Fender Strat with the Gibson Les Paul, Just falls short in reaching the Classic Strat Sound at about 75% from the authentic, and on the other-side of The Les Paul Sound it reach 75% from the Authentic......If I would purchase this Guitar it would be because its an PRS Guitar, and second because PRS attempted to combine in one Guitar the sound and playability of Strat and of a Les Paul

Beautiful color ! I’ve been playing a fender American standard Strat. I’m looking for a fuller warmer sounding Strat . Do you feel this a warmer sound ?
@Sick_Strings01
@Sick_Strings01 10 күн бұрын
So I’d like to clarify this question if possible. When you say “warmer” do you just mean less treble or the sound of the pickup itself pushed forward or fuller only? I thinks it is important to really nail down exactly what you are looking for because, for example, an adjustment to pickup height can sometimes be the answer versus buying a whole new guitar in my opinion.
