I have a stock mn78 and replaced the gearbox with a metal gearbox and now my car can't even go on grass. What do i do lmao

@Espein just swapping out the gear box for a metal one shouldn't make it do that. The gears may have come unseated somehow, and the teeth are not catching like they should. That would be my guess, but I could be wrong 😕 😂

I just moved the metal gears to the oem gearbox and it works great now! No awful sound as another said either, but a lot of lube indeed 😂 tnx a lot ❤

What could be the problem if it will not move forward but backward movement is good, and also the rudder is good but it can function even out of water?

@jomotogarage it could be a bad esc. Try reversing motor wires & see if that works.

@jomotogarage there isn't really any calibration you can do with those cheap stock 2 in 1 esc/receiver boards. You did say that you modified the boat to where it would work out the water by cutting those 2 wires and bonding them together, right? So if that's the case, that esc could be bad. You could take the esc out and check connections going into the esc and also look for any discolorations on the esc board. Sorry I couldn't help you get it up & running. You can always upgrade it to a better system.

Surprisingly, it is still going strong. I've been on-road and off-road with it. It's not crazy fast, but it is enjoyable.

Unfortunately, with the stock esc, it is very possible that it will burn. The esc is very small and is not capable of a lot of power. You can get more power & speed out of it with the 370 motor conversion. The esc can handle that power from the motor upgrade with the stock battery still being in use.

Yeah, that 8T motor with the gearing is impressive. I bought another one and put it in one of my crawlers, and it is beyond outrageously good (strong enough to crawl/fast enough to trail).

I have 2 of these boats. One of them I installed a brushless system in it (this video) and the other I left stock and just run 2s in it. The brushless is really wacky on 3s until I modified it with fins.
