In case anyone is interested the lyrics of this song was written by my father Bernard (Barney) Ide with the music written by his good friend and musical partner Stan Keyawa both who went to Chico State University in California. Barney was also the great grandson of California's President of the "Bear Flag Republic" before California became a U.S. State Barney and Stan were both natives of Chico CA.

Gosh, I'm interested.! This is a personal, (but not too personal) singular lyric-the kind that every song would like to have and be. There is nothing pat or cliche about it. The tune is just right with it, too. Do you know if your father and Stan Keyawa wrote anything else? I would be so eager to hear anything. I am so grateful to all the people that share music on KZfaq and extra happy when the songwriters are credited. Thank you so much for sharing the story about your dad. You can be proud.

Thank you. I had no idea who Jimmy Rushing was but Champian Fulton spoke highly of him during one of her “live at home” FB streams back in 2021. She sang and performed this tune and it’s been a favorite of mine ever since. Glad I came across this today! This is definitely a must for the archives. ❤
