Thanks. The last six months have been very busy with moving house, helping my son get into his house plus I came down with thyroid disease which is treatable but causes fatigue. But I am in a new house with more garage space and am hoping to get the engine in soon.

Looking very good, John! Wiring and everything else is important to be neat and easy to get to if repairs are needed later. It will be great to see the drive train in and the interior done. I'm guessing the bodywork will be done last.

Thanks. I just did not like the way the Ron Francis harness was jammed behind the dash, so I decided to start taking it apart and he next thing I knew it was all apart and looked like a rat's nest. But I am happy with the end result and learned a lot. The drive train is next; actually I need to install the throttle pedal and have Mike Forte's solid linkage setup - hopefully it will be straightforward! The bodywork will be last - I may get it running a drive it for a few months first. Partly to get the kinks out but partly because I want to drive it!

Reference brake fluid: It is better go for Dot 5 synthetic because it is none hydroscopic (does not attract water) IMV plus you do not have to change every few years. Enjoying the build.

Hi - I’ll comment on why I am upgrading and changing some things in my next video, but let me respond here also. I upgraded to Wilwood brakes because I intend to do some autocross and track days. For the same reason I upgraded to QA1s because they are more easily adjustable. In both cases I bought them from Gordon Levy Racing and am happy with them. I used a different power steering rack because several people who I have gotten to know had issues with the FFR one. I read EdwardB’s build thread on the factory five forum and have made some of the upgrades he has made. I’ll try and remember to talk about it when I post the next update. Thanks!

@@007_jg8 while the Factory Five cars are absolutely top notch, the Hurricane had features that were a little more true to the real thing, including the body, floor mount pedals, etc. Plus it comes with a 9 inch traction lock rear included. The fiberglass work is a bit better too.

It is a group of about 30 people in the Sacramento area - all on Facebook messenger. Very tight knit group who are always helping each other out. I only joined a few months ago. I expect there are similar groups in other cities or regions. The Factory Five Forum probably has a list, or you could join the forum and ask. The forum is another great resource.

Well, you hooked me, Liked & Subscribed. I'm a retired machinist who's loved Mustangs, and Everything Shelby. I owned a 67 GT350 for a while that I restored from a wreck. I had fun with it, and I sold it, what a mistake, but I still have memories of the fun I had with it. I've been looking at this kit for a very long time. If I had the finances, I'd build one for myself. I would've bought what FF calls their complete kit that I think is partially assembled, but it's a bit more expensive. I'm wondering why you chose to do a lot of work on your own? Yes, our free time doesn't cost us money, but when our free time is used up, we all wish we had more time to spend. Either way, I love the Cobra Daytona Coupe, and I'll be watching and wishing I was building one in my garage.
@007_jg8
@007_jg8 Жыл бұрын
Rb67, thanks for your comment. The kit that I purchased is the “complete kit”. The base kit is intended for people who have donor mustangs they are using. The complete kit means FF is sending you a lot of stuff! As I said in the video I had over 45 boxes. The complete kit requires that you build everything. I love to build and do projects - I prefer working on things in my garage to watching TV. And it stops me from just sitting around drinking beer! Cheers!! John

@@007_jg8 John, thanks for setting me straight on which kit you bought. I agree about doing as much of the build as possible. Building and in my case restoring to me is best part. From watching you, I know you're going to have one sweet Daytona Coupe.

Always have the air filter and cover fitted before firing it up. If the engine were to backfire, you will quite possibly have a fire to deal with. I'm talking from a "nasty experience".
@drd1924

great advice, especially if youre squirtin gas into the carb...better to have the air filter catch fire, then crank it to create a down draft and suck it back in....than to have your plug wires and electrical burn.
