As a longtime Banshees fan, this song holds a very special place in my heart, and DeVotchKa just killed this version. I like it a little more than the original album version, but the original live Siouxsie version on the Twice Upon A time collection, is still the best recording of this song ever imho.

In the sharp gust of love My memory stirred When time wreathed a rose A garland of shame Its thorn my only delight War torn, afraid to speak We dare to breathe Majestic Imperial A bridge of sighs Solitude sails In a wave of forgiveness On angels' wings Reach out your hands Don't turn your back Don't walk away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart At the close of day The sunset cloaks These words in shadowplay Here and now, long and loud My heart cries out And the naked bone of an echo says Don't walk away Reach out your hands I'm just a step away How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart Close to you 'Til the last beat Of my heart How in the world Can I wish for this? Never to be torn apart 'Til the last beat 'Til the last fleeting beat Of my heart

As my favorite Siouxsie & The Banshees song, I feel very protective over any potentially lame covers, but this one gets my full approval. So wonderfully done, faithful to the original with enough of their own sound to make it their own. Bravo!

Thank you I love Queen medleys...this one had balloons, blow up dolls, feather boas, bubbles and roses thrown by Freddie to the audience...he made sure that the thorns had been removed, so no one would get injured...John cool in his cap, Roger as a clown, Brian channeling Dr.Who .....and Freddie? .......when he opened his kimono, the BBC cameraman swiftly moved the camera away from Freddie, unsure of what lay beneath .....Freddie was being Freddie, amazing, wonderful, exotic and iconic❤🤩
