Cant wait for Sunday morning. Caught the barbel bug last autumn and had a few chunks out the thames. Could you recommend a a decent day ticket stretch on the trent? Would love to do 24/48 hrs up there this year as 1 bite for 6/7 outings can be a bit demoralising 😅 just as a treat. All the best for this season buddy and tight lines 👍

Hello mate can i ask you a question about my 1st time barbel fishing on the trent i have gone for 18lb main line n 15lb hook length have i gone ott my reel is not yet spooled up but line is on the way, hook lengths are done with fluro, your advice would be very welcome as your fish are !

What a pain it is when tech fails, but at least you are sorted, probably with better stuff now. Simple fun fishing can be an absolute joy sometimes, especially when it’s local to home. Look forward to more to come. Still can’t get over the 30lb pike you had, one hell of an achievent that.

Nice looking water mate ,the otters will have a few but they don’t get as many as people think ,don’t get me wrong not a good sign to see them but the water ways in the uk are over a huge area

The havoc that the otters have caused in the last 10 + years is absolutely awful, it’s criminal the damage that they’ve done tbh, sone of the country’s most beautiful old strain carp have been just decimated, sone of the country’s biggest barbel too have fallen victim. I found my first ever 20lb’er dead on the bank and in the following months another 2 or 3 of my first 20lb mirrors that I caught plus literally dozens upon dozens of doubles from the same venue, it was absolutely brutal to experience to be honest.

Angler's obviously fish all year round now because of the lift on still waters but when it was included in the close season it made the glorious june 16 almost biblical ! People used to be out on the 15th waiting to cast at midnight ! (For me, nothing beats rivers)

Caught tons of pike that big they were maybe 18 to 22 lbs but nowhere near 31 LOL

When I first saw that black think I thought he might keep and got very angry, lol. Glad he released it!
