Try to get your car fully loaded on a weight bridge. I was surprised when I firstly saw the weight of my Rig in a Chinese Toll Station. Roads in Central Asia can be extremely bad try to minimize anything screwed to your cab or check frequently the bolts. Corrugated Roads are a real nightmare with a loaded Truck.

it does, but not significantly, around 25% saving by 12v, I guess if your Starlink is not powered 100% of the time then this option may not be for everyone.

Hey Guys, it looks simple to use but really not sure about it to be honest? on road it will be okay I'm guessing, I'm not sure if you're planning any dirt roads ? if you are , I see trouble with it in you're future, I know here in Australia it wouldn't last 5 minuets with our corrugations. Good Luck, enjoying the vids. 👍

Hi Glyn, yes, we are worried about this too. the small adaptor and hitch steps sounds good in practice, not sure how it will last in theory. I think the bikes will stay, will be stored inside in shipping and long routes, but guess we will soon find out, is this idea expedition ready or just weekend touring when needed...hmmmm.

@@overlandtheworld The step on its own is an awesome addition, I made one a few weeks ago for my hitch receiver, the wife and I love it, before I was carrying a milk crate to stand on. you'll work it out mate, what works and what doesn't when you start doing a few trips in it.

I have to say yes because it will give wind protection, but you may need ‘skirts’ to go around the bottom of the truck to stop a low draft.

Looks like an incredible route! I've heard that travelling overland through China is very difficult (in terms of bureaucracy / permits etc). What's your plan there?
@overlandtheworld
@overlandtheworld 3 ай бұрын
Yes it's tricky...apply for visa 3 months in advance, need a guide with itinerary, need temp driving license and register the car with the Chinese authorities. Thankfully found an agent that can help, obviously comes with a cost, but this kind of travelling will always do that regardless.

I'd love to see someone come-up with a layout/solution for reaching the fridge both from inside the camper and from outside the camper. I hate the idea of having to climb into the camper every time I wanted to grab a cold one or if I forget the butter. Putting the fridge in the truck's back seat solves that issue, but then it's inaccessible from inside the camper during inclement weather, etc.
@overlandtheworld
@overlandtheworld 4 ай бұрын
This is why we have two… the main 75L in the camper and a small 20L powered by the trucks built in inverter in the back seat…. Absolutely necessary lmao 🤣 🤣🤣

Looks great, interested to know what software you used to create the map/route?
@overlandtheworld
@overlandtheworld 3 ай бұрын
Sorry Viv, realised my first reply did not send. Yes this is a development software from the states I can give you a link if you need, there is a cost, based on the amount of maps you use as its AI generated, it also doesn't help on this scale with the route as there are some inaccuracies, not many, countries are accurate unless we change on the way... however, the more data you can put in, the more specific it will be. I'm hoping to use this with each country and create a map of the route we followed.
