Yup, we should only create new super language and rewrite all the browsers and frontend apps in the Internet - easy peasy lemon squeezy

Another piece of life advice - never trust the advice from someone who has a questionable moral character. Chances are their bad behavior has earned them consequences and there's nothing they'd love more than to have you suffer the same consequences as them. If a guy has been arrested, don't take legal advice from him. He may know what he did wrong but that doesn't mean he'll be honest to you. No, asking an undercover cop if they're an undercover cop doesn't work nor does chugging hard liquor before a breathalyzer. If a guy is a deadbeat dad paying child support every month, don't take his advice. He'll tell you women are evil and they'll ruin your life with a child and that you should try to get your kid killed if your girlfriend gets pregnant. What he's not saying is that he's in the position he's in because he did what he's telling you to do. Seen too many people fall for that one.

The question is what alternatives do web developers have? The browsers/the web would need to change first
@programaticLearning21 сағат бұрын
It's because of business buzzwords acronyms like KPI and MVP you don't churn out the "minimum viable product" to upkeep "key performance indicators" by taking time to develop your own thing that might lead to better long term outcomes. Stocks need to go brrrrr now. Yeah it's unsustainable and is leading to software degradation and feature bloat overtime.

The problem is that people always want backwards compatibility. As tempting as it might be, you can't just throw out everything and start fresh.

For anyone reads @MrAgame13 comments. I mean, don't why we stop using it and move on creating new ones ? as he said, it should have been expired. And the thing that javascript developers do is just mending broken wounds, they keep it up-to-date but instead of giving new solutions, they give it more problems and the language itself will never be sustainable and run out of errors. If javascript is only the language that makes you money, you should have some self-reflection. IT is not for those who wants a sustain.

We need a replacement then. We can't stop using it if it is still the simplest option even though it sucks

It has never been about the language. It’s all about the great things you create with it. Let’s not get too attached with the tools, but focus on the craft.

He's right. I come from a time when there was no such thing as a front end, back end or full stack developer. We were just software engineers and we used whatever tools were available to do the job. Many times we had to learn new skills. These days if you haven't got one particular skill, companies may pass over you. But the reality is, you should be an all rounder and picking up a new skill is simply part of the job often learned on the job. Also, back then we didn't have QA engineers. We tested things ourselves.

It's pushing it to say there's a clean way to do programming, but certainly things can be changed so we can have a novel set of congenital defects so we can deal with a new set of congenital defects on top of the previous sets of congenital defects.

I feel like now that AI is finally here, adaption of new languages will be even more difficult, since ai will be generating all the code and all the good practices that the ai got trained on was on these existing languages

The thing is it's too convenient to do everything in one language. Sure, there are a lot of languages that are better in some way, but there's probably not that many languages that can do both frontend and backend and be popular enough to find experts for.

If your code repeats this is the biggest mistake you make. If micro services fix this problem, it's an angel, if not it's a devil.

The issue is with the web browsers, right? The browsers are already like a virtual machine, but why do they only support JavaScript? Why do people work so hard to create workarounds like reactjs, instead of adding support for a new language?

imo, "microservices" are one of the worst conputing concepts, brought to life by smart people to make money by unneccessary / over complicating software systens and then creating and selling tools to companies to cope with the mess.

He's not wrong. JS has a lot of good stuff, but also a lot of "WTF". "Smelly language" is an apt description. But at the moment it's almost the only option for frontend dev (I'm not really counting TypeScript as a separate option, although it does improve the dev experience for me). When WebAssembly started to emerge, I thought it would be the beginning of the end for JS, and that people would be able to do frontend dev with any language they like as long as it could be compiled to WASM, but it's not really getting traction yet.

As an iOS dev I was almost fired for going on a rant like this in front of our back-end guys like 5 years ago. Mofos should have listened… 4 useless guys trying to tame a simple crud fastapi server drowning in dozens of microservices that could have been just a function Sometimes I wonder am I a shitcoder or a genius from the future.😅
