it's so bizarre realizing you're older than beloved characters or older than the 'standard' age for a young adult protagonist or something. Like, I'm reading some fiction involving heavy themes and such and then I remember that the main character is like... a teenager, dealing with this shit, and while it's totally accurate to how I also felt like I was constantly sinking into a miasma of despair as a teenager, I'm not a teenager anymore - I'm no longer the age of a standard young adult protagonist, and I never will be again. I don't know when my childhood died - it's very hard to pinpoint such a thing for me, as it was always more a slow downward spiral into self hatred and depression that seemed to progress without me even noticing - but if I had to pick a point, it's probably 2016 for me. Of course, I was literally a freshman in highschool then, so basically still a child, but it was probably the year when the reality of... reality really truly hit me, when I realized how absolutely screwed up the world could be. Or maybe it was when I wrote my first suicide note, when the downward spiral reached it's first bottom where it felt like I could fall no farther - only for life to keep continuing anyway, no matter how badly I felt I had already failed. Anyway, I appreciate this audio and your thoughts on it for letting me feel things, or something. And feel vaguely connected to other people far across the world while I sit in isolation in reality. It's funny, I'm actually doing so much better now than I used to be - I wouldn't exactly say there's a major thing I'm 'going through' right now that I need to 'get better' from. But still... Idk.
