Forget all the trash talking Larry did on the court, forget their rivalry .. remember.. that Larry stood by Magic through the HIV era. That gives me so much more respect for Larry Bird than anything.. because other players didn't want to play with Magic after that came out.. Larry stood by him. That's a stand up guy to me.

Bird ? Is he the the first round of the team you build? Or the wuss

I never really liked either of these guys and certainly never got the hype of Bird - I jumped on to the Jordan bandwagon when he showed up, and by then, Bird was waning (relatively speaking) with his back injuries - so I didn't get it. Looking back at the pre-Jordan era of Bird and Magic - they made the league relevant and made basketball itself a whole different game. I miss how they played - the unselfishness and the hustle. You don't see that passion and willingness to give it to the guy who normally rides the bench, but he's open right now. Too many "stars" and not enough team players - and stars that know they are stars and can get away with having a lazy game. Players like Bird and Magic never had a lazy game and made everyone around them SOOO much better! You don't see guys diving after a loose ball or slamming the boards for a rebound in a regular-season-doesn't-really-matter game anymore. I also miss the era of not chasing money / jumping teams every couple years too - those franchise players that were loved by the city they played in. It's a changed game and I just don't see that those changes are actually better for the game - maybe better for the individuals, but not for the sport and the spectators. I know I sound like an old man, and I guess I'm just short of fifty so I kind of am, but JMO!

messi y maradonas dos prodigios 🇦🇷. Cada cual con el talento q lo recibio.. La diferencia? Lo q hizo cada uno con lo q recibio. Diego un juego precioso! Un showman Messi por su lado? Magnifico. Quien obtubo mas? messi.

Messi is a great player, but Maradona is the GOAT, he had so much more to his game than messi and alos dont forget he played when the the surface was awful and his control was still on another level

The problem with using college players was that some guys missed out on playing in the Olympics because of when they went to the NBA. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird both joined the NBA in 1979, so they were too young for 1976 and would have been ineligible in 1980 even if the US had not boycotted.
