Amazing work top to bottom -- but the cold case piece really just absorbed me, brought me in. You felt the weight of the story immediately.

Thank you Joseph. As someone new to the field this video contained a wealth of wisdom for me. Particularly your time management and the way you serve the moment with running OTS over getting a “clean” static shot. Sometimes I get so caught up in trying to set up the “perfect” shot that I can miss what matters.

Thank you for watching! I believe moments trump aesthetics. If you can do both well, that's magic! I have a bunch of other tutorials on my page if you're interested. I have stuff on spot news, press conferences, weather, and more.

Note: Joseph shot this 100% solo. He got his 10,000 steps running back and forth between the two getting every moment and no one was there to carry his tri-pod.

Everyone I talked with working in SC said this plant was a cover-up boy club shit show from hell. These people were Engineering and Quality professionals that were simply stuck because of the need to support family.

Thanks for the breakdown! Nice work. Did you shoot this all with your fx3? And a couple lenses? I’m also curious about your mics. Two wireless mics and a shotgun? That can be a challenge with the fx3.
@josephhuerta2 ай бұрын
Thank you, Mark! Everything was shot on the FX3. I used the Sony Hotshoe dual wireless mic system, plugged in the 3.5 input, and had my shotgun mic in the XLR channel 2 input. It was shot with the 16-35,24-70.70.200 GM lenses.

A master at work here. Local journalism that is impactful and visually stunning like this is extremely important. Local news is the only place these exist and they are the best stories becaue they are deeply rooted in the community. Stories like these make me miss being a news photog.

Excellent work man. Very inspiring. After being at KUSA in the 90's (a few SOY's Lol), KDVR in the early 2000's (Quarterly wins here and there) I got out of News entirely in 2005, only to return to KCNC in late 2023. I absolutely love what you are doing here, and I've spent waaaaay too much time on your channel. I appreciate you, and again...very inspiring. I now totally remember how important it is to have a storytelling reporter with you, and how frustrating it can be when you don't. Keep up the great work, and working that long B4 mount lens...Lol love it.

Thanks for sharing, Joseph! How are you micing the couples you interview? One lav or two?
@josephhuerta7 ай бұрын
For the newly engaged couple, it was taken from the shotgun mic. I didn't want to break the moment by asking if I could put a microphone on them.

If you see a humpback whale in southern Puget sound they are a gonner. They missed the turn and are lost and will starve to death just like this whale. There was a grey whale that went up the foss waterway in downtown Tacoma a few years back. Died 6 days later in Olympia. Very sad..
