Ike's beta name was Paris, which is Priam's name in the japanese version of Awakening. I think there's a greek mythology reference in how those two names are related. I recall seeing somewhere that Lyn's beta name was Alicia.

I would be interested to hear what you consider the worst map of every game... Even your favorite game has a "worst" part, so it could be fun to hear which map of each game you just want to be over, no matter how many times you play them, or even how good you are at them

One thing I think is interesting about the Illian Pegasus Knight fact, is that even though Farina says the mounted male knights of Illia are fairly worthless, and the player may be inclined to believe her due to their less-than-stellar gameplay performance when Trec, Noah, and Zelot are recruited in Binding Blade, it's worth noting that Barrigan of the Eight Legends, the original wielder of Maltet _was_ a male horse-rider, rather than a female Pegasus Knight.

Doesn't Radiant Dawn also have an unused song in its data? The Trial map theme, which is a remix of "Alm map 2", also known as "What Lies At The End" from Gaiden.

The birthdays for the Awakening children being those of the game release dates is super cool, especially as it can be seen as a love letter to the series if Awakening had flopped and the series had died.

5:06 - I think this is one of the rare times I actually prefer the English changes. Black Knight claiming he only sent his armor is just silly. Don’t get me wrong, I never really liked “I let you win” either, but surely they could have just gone with “warp powder lowers my strength, that’s the only reason you won” or something. Eh, either way. Still love those 2 games and I had no idea they changed that part for English! I still hold out hope that we will get the full version of RD one day….

I have one neat fact to add, since you said one fact about every mainline Fire Emblem game Internally, FE Heroes is listed at Iron15 in it's files, Iron being the codename for mainline FE titles. Meanwhile Echoes is referred to as Iron16 and Three Houses is Iron17 So IS considers FE Heroes to be the 15th mainline Fire Emblem game!

Dude those scrapped tracks for FE3 are so good. It's a crime they weren'r reused for FE4, they would've fit in perfectly in that game.

The true awakening trivia was baby faced Gregor is secretly an Isekai protagonist taking his brother Gregor's name and having all these adventures in the background of the story. I dare say without Gregor we wouldn't have half of fire emblem itself.

I knew over half of these. Especially the one about the kids birthdays in awakening as I really got into the trivia and background lore of Fe at the time. Plus it was supposed to be the "last" game so of course they'd honor everything that came before it.

18:25 So let me get this straight: Patrick Seitz, the voice of a Yellow-clad ninja from hell, voiced a 17-year old axe-wielding goliath. I kinda pictured him being voiced by Sunil Malhotra, aka the voice of Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat 1

As far as bad weapons in non-Fates games go... Bolt Axe in PoR. Without massive RNG abuse, you aren't getting anyone to do any real damage with it (and even then, its 10 might is poor as far as axes go, especially considering Steel is E rank with 11 might). It isn’t much better in Three Houses, with the weight of a truck and piss-poor accuracy to boot. RD Bolting got nerfed to HELL, with its might more than halved, and its weight jacked up. It almost doesn't feel worth it to steal. The Silver Blade in most every game that isn’t Engage is just plain terrible compared to the Silver Sword. -20 hit, which makes it have too low accuracy to be viable, much heavier, and only 1 extra might (in the GBA games, at least). Whoopee. Fenrir, Gleipnir, Naglfar and Gespenst are all mega heavy to the point of being unusable (and three of those are in Sacred Stones, where dark magic is pretty terrible). The Steel Axe and Lance in Binding Blade are inaccurate to the point where they are unusable, and javelins and hand axes in that game are hard to justify using for that same reason. Killer weapons fell off a cliff in Radiant Dawn, where they have lower might than steel and bank breaking prices (I could buy 2 silvers for one killer). Also, RD enemies have high luck, making them unreliable. Wind magic in PoR in general is utter ass, with low might and double effectiveness. That same game also has effective weapons in general suck, with massive weight and poor might (dishonourable mentions to the Armorslayer, Hammer and Poleax as they're obtained early in the game). The Crusher in Three Houses, for a relic weapon, which Three Houses loves to have its story hype up so often, is a damn joke. Heavy, low hit, and a melee weapon to boot. And the one designated user is... a mage. Which generally DOESN'T want to be facing a counterattack. It's reminiscent of the Sol Katti in being just plain bad for its wielder. Speaking of 3H, javelins and hand axes, as well as their upgrades, are at their lowest point in the series.

The tricky thing about Fire Emblem Engage and Three Houses seems to be that they're basically built for different audiences entirely. I'm not talking about age or demographics or whatever, I'm talking about people interested in gameplay vs. people interested in story and characters. Three Houses has people praising the story and characters and route changes and such, and Engage has had people praising the gameplay more than anything else - and interestingly enough, one game's weak points tend to be the other game's strengths when glancing at comparisons (I've heard in passing for instance that Three Houses can be cheesed with turning everyone into Wyvern Riders, whereas Engage was designed with careful Ring/Skill management in mind until they added the free well DLC. Story shouldn't be necessary to discuss - Three Houses is the clear winner). My running theory is based on how Fire Emblem Fates had two different games attached to the same name + a dlc (with one being more story-based and Awakening-styled with weaker map design while the other was map and gameplay-based and meant to challenge gamers with weaker story) - I'm thinking they learned from that to not put their eggs in one basket trying to appeal to all sides of the fandom with a single game the way Fates did since that caused issues all around, and separated the teams so that the tactical rpg people get one game for the gameplay and the story and character people get another game, and it isn't marketed so that you have to get both to get the full experience like in Pokemon. Basing that on some internet rumors on how Three Houses and Engage were developed near or around the same time (with Engage being finished but held back for a little bit on completion to not compete with other games) to come to the conclusion that the games were meant appeal to opposite sides of the Fire Emblem fanbase. (The crazy designs and bad story of Engage seem tailor-made to scare off the story and character lovers, which is shown pretty heavily in the comments here, but realistically those don't matter to someone who plays Fire Emblem for the gameplay in the same way the weak story of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest wouldn't matter to a gameplay person). The unfortunate thing here is that this seems like a solid idea for avoiding crunching the workers over at Intelligent Systems (make two games, one story-based the story teams can collab and devote all their time on and the gameplay teams can not worry as much about, and vice versa for a gameplay-based game). Can have those running simultaneously and/or inbetween releases and time it so that when one story-game is finished, the gameplay-game can be released as the story-team revises and world-builds and stuff (and good stories and characters *need* time to marinate, because otherwise it becomes the classic student rushing/half-assing something before the deadline type of deal) until the next story game is built (and vice versa for the gameplay people who can work on figuring out cool map gimmicks and whatnot for the next gameplay game while the story games are being released and such). Uncertain if that model will fly given Engage's reception.

Fates was the victim of bad localization, which did in fact negatively effect the gameplay, in the sense that certain DLC was never released overseas. Black-and-white views of game design from both developers and players fracture quality and reception more than most everything else.

I honestly think the poblem could be solved by embracing Light's natural niche as Swords of the magic types: * It's weak so it deals chip damage unless it doubles, which its accuracy supports. It should also be made unheavy to support doubling, which also supports dodge-tanking for speedy characters. The main issue is that since Binding Blade the series has been loath to give sword-users, pegasus knights and mages effective stats to overcome weapon weight. * All magic except siege tomes are naturally 1-2 range so they don't have range problems like Swords do. * It would be well suited to hit fellow Light users, and have advantage over Dark which remains common through most mid- and lategames. BBEGs usually have Dark Magic using factions directly serving them. * It's usually intertwined with Staves, and healers naturally need high Magic to do their job and high Speed for survivability. Light Magic gives promoted healers a reliably hitting and weapon type that doesn't jeopardize dodge-tanking or doubling.

If I had to guess, I'd say formations would probably give a relative "rock paper scissors" bonus, maybe similar to the lightsaber forms in KOTOR 2, but then got replaced by gambits. The "axe or sword skills" choice was probably just an early version of when they come up and as to change their goals, not the goal menu where you manually pick them yourself.
