I have 2 fender acoustics, both of them had the same price but I bought one new and the other one used. The new one plays and sounds great, the used one however has always sounded thin and is harder to play, so I have always used 10 strings with it, and tried different brands, with not great results. I decided to check what strings was the new one using and the fender web says it comes with a set of 12, so I’m going to try to get a thicker gauge for the old one, I think that might be the problem (and upgrading to a graphtec saddle)

I swapped out the V2 12AX7 in my '65 Fender Twin with a 12AY7 and that was such a good decision. I only have the one amp, and now it's playable in my bedroom (I can turn the volume all the way up to 4 now!). It also really improved the sound; the stock tubes were re-branded sovteks, and I put a nice Electro-Harmonix tube in there instead, it just sounds fuller with more harmonics. Seriously, if you own a tube amp, play around with what preamp tubes you have in there! I swapped out the reverb tube at the same time with a better quality tube and that really improved the sound of the reverb as well.

I don't understand the concern for low wattage speaker with hi wattage amps. At 1 watt your speaker is putting out almost 100db. It doesn't matter what wattage your amp is.

to me the boss od3 is a Marshall in a box to transform you clean amp to.a slightly more middy but still fairly wide frequency range rock sound.. The boss bd2 is great for a mild overdrive sound if you keep the tone pot below 10 o'clock but has slightly less low mds than the od3, When you turn up the bd2 it becomes almost like a fuzz type sound.. The boss super overdrive does not really work on a clean amp,, It is far to middy and has a lot of bass cut of.. It works nice ok when soloing on a neck pickup but find it lacking on a bridge pickup for rock..

Fantastic demonstration of the results of a properly used compression pedal. You hear the difference between how if sounds with and without compression on a well known song. Brilliant. All the demos I've seen just noodle nothing tunes twiddle knobs which really doesn't show the reason you want a compressor.

Any cheap solutions in 2024?? Utility pedals shouldn't be more than 50 bucks. I bet circuit-wise those pedals are nothing special or expensive.

I think the smaller you can get the better. Mainly so that I’m less tempted to buy more pedals since I’d have no room available lmao, and it forces me to upgrade my existing ones

I’m learning Iron man by black sabbath and the main problem I need to do pull off right after band down, so I should somehow cope simultaneously with 3 technique and make the index finger to be pressed on the banded string (not just laid down) and that’s frustrating :(

After buying many many many overdrive pedals, I came to the conclusion that all I needed was a soft clipping O/D, a hard clipping O/D and an EQ pedal and I pretty much have them all covered.

Nice demo but from my side your guitar sounded really dull and very unstrat like. Like the strings were really old or filled with grease from your fingers. It was like there was compression already. Just sayin.

Is there a signal loss when you run two overdrives in parallel - is the signal split or doubled or is there a sonic information loss on each side in the act of doing it? Being technologically naive in my descriptioner here probably but you get my drift …

I like used high power speakers that have been broken in by high volume playing from much larger amps , they sound the best when put in low power amps . They are not stiff anymore and punchy...... That's the way to go. Also when using boost or distortion pedals they sound better because they don't get muddy of poop out at higher volumes . On the other hand if your playing a bedroom levels and not slamming the front end with pedals then low wattage is fine.
