Difficult to say without looking in person. Make sure the input gain on the mixer is at a good level, set to 0db (although some people will set at -6), and then have a good signal that is green on the meter and only occasionally peaks into yellow. I assume your in ears are fed through a bus, so just make sure the levels to the buss are good. Are you using cables to a headphone amp, or to a wireless box. The headphone side needs to be active to amplify the line level signal (I know its obvious but just checking), some wireless in ears will also have a gain knob you can turn up. Use good cables. They dont need to be mega expensive - for live stuff I use visiosound or stagg, cheap but good quality. Hope this helps. Also splitter does have ground lift and link buttons - make sure these are off unless you want them on…

I agree - the singer, performance and in the case of instruments , the instrument and tuning are the key aspects, but many people are interested if there is significant difference if you spend more money on expensive gear, and if there is a perceived difference, how big it is. Often you can tell a slight difference, but ultimately such a lot of the difference is ones own taste and opinion. I hope this helps with the reasoning behind the video. The main thing I wanted to illustrate was the difference of using a cheap in ear set compared to the actual output, to see what the difference was. Musicians who cannot afford expensive in ears kit, will probably employ a wired solution from a headphone or via an output though a headphone amplifier, and the idea was to show the difference that you would actually get employing these units. @tmmmusicstudio 11 ай бұрын
The only double size module I currently use is a bettermaker compressor. Works fine, no noise. I highly rate midas gear, and I think there is a definite problem with “behringer bashing” in the music world, and now Behringer own Midas, they are subject to that. With any company which uses large manufacturing plants, there will be the odd unit with a quality control problem, but generally Midas gear (and behringer - as I use X32 X18 and P-16s for my live work) is just excellent. Im waiting for a AMS Neve RMX16 reverb, to be delivered, so I will do a vid on that when it arrives.

Some people may be confused that they are hearing a Neve 1073 in this comparison because it's not clearly labeled. You're not hearing a Neve 1073, you're hearing an OPX. The OPX uses surface mount components and the board inside is like a PC motherboard. The OPX circuit is very different from a 1073, OPX uses transformerless output stages and modern power buffering stages, it's radically different from a 1073. OPX is a good unit. They are actually more detailed than a 1073, but they do not have 1073 saturation.
@tmmmusicstudio
@tmmmusicstudio Жыл бұрын
Maybe you should let AMS Neve know, as their description clearly describes it as such: www.ams-neve.com/outboard/1073-range/1073opx/ Admittedly its not a vintage 1073, but I would dispute whether it deserves the 1073 title. Its probably open for debate, open for opinions, and differing opinions create good dialog, however, in my opinion it sounds great and is a very flexible unit. Thanks for your comment none the less, your opinion is as valid as mine 👍

@tmmmusicstudio

Most (or many) splitters work by having a true wired link and a second transformer link. As long as your mixer or source of phantom power is on the true link, then it passes. So when we play in a venue with a managed PA we give the PA the transformer split, and control the phantom power ourselves. Hope this helps.

Greetings, I stumbled across KZfaq searching for information on Dante and your video is very helpful as it is similar to the application I have in mind for my setup. The question I have is; How well can your external hardware be used similar to a plug-in? Also is it more advantageous to route each hardware device individually to the network? For example I have a 1073 routed into a distressor in my vocal chain. If I route them individually to the network and utilize the virtual mixer to route them can I expect the same results? Thanks
@tmmmusicstudio
@tmmmusicstudio Жыл бұрын
Essentially, yes you can as long as they are single devices, but not from one channel “out” to an “in” of the same multi-channel device. Hope that makes sense… I am using a lot of 500 series where you can link (in most units) between channels to create a chain, and then send into DAW. I am about to do a vid of the use of Dante for outboard, from DAW… watch this space. The routing is the main reason I have used Dante.

Hi! Awesome video! But I would advice using splitters with input and direct output in front and second output in the back. Like ART S8 3way. Yes its more expensive but makes your kit cleaner and wont require keeping all wires for FOH hanging out of the rack. Cutting the hole in the XR18s rack mount will make it easier for cable management especially for those racks where you will have to leave one unit empty for cables and you wont need to take out behringer from the rack to change cables. OR just put xr18 with its inputs inside the rack. XR18 does not have any faders/buttons/triggers on it that are crucial on the stage

Remember it's a monitor, not hifi. How good is the sound you get from your floor wedges with everything else going on. It's doesn't have to be perfect to be much better than floor monitors. We have a couple of the even cheaper Thomann T-Bone 75s sets, and four wired sets of iems, running from a Behringer XR18 digital mixer into a six channel headphone amplifier. If we were to run more than two of these wireless sets we would risk problems with frequencies and interference. A more expensive set would be required if all six of us went wireless. It works for us, and it works well. The choice of earbuds is important. We have tried Shure 215s, but most of us opted for CCA10s, fitted with the correct sized memory foam tips. The supplied silicone tips are okay for home use, but fail to properly isolate in a band setting. The digital mixer gave us six monitor channels, rather than the 2/3 available on the old set-up. It makes so much difference for everyone to have their own monitor mix, which they can control themselves. Since changing to iems our monitoring is much improved, we sing better in tune, don't damage our voices straining to hear ourselves, we have reduced on stage volumes, and front of house sound is so much cleaner as there is no need to fight against the output of the monitors.

These have to be carefully level matched using the RMS of the entire take and the takes need to be multed out from a single take or it's not a fair comparison. Nice video! Just a question? How are you plugging the Dante into your computer? Via the switch or do you have a Dante device? Sorry if this is a dumb question lol

Not a dumb question at all. I plug it into the ethernet port on my mac mini, or USBC ethernet port on my macbook. The dante virtual soundcard software picks up the data (you select the ethernet port in the settings of the software). Hope that helps explain.

One more question if I may 🙋🏻‍♀️ Does this set up basically omit the need of A/D converter going into the computer? Just curious how good the quality going in is

I can’t find any shallow 6u cases with wheels anywhere in the internet. Did you add those wheels ?

@@pedrobrandao7432 the rack I took the gear out of was shallow, the one I put it into (with wheels) was a standard rack.
