Hi, are there gluten free products like pizzas or bread at supermarkets? Or can you even find gluten free products in mcdonalds there? And what other area were you living at? It seems the only safe areas if you're a white 6'4 guy like me that will stand out no matter what I'm doing, are el poblado and laureles. Is there another safe area?
@isabellerdgz14 күн бұрын
Hi, you won’t find gluten free products everywhere but your best bet would be Carulla. I have no idea about McDonald’s but why go to McDonald’s when you’re in colombia haha. A lot of Colombian food is gluten free anyway since it’s corn-based. I lived in Floresta. It’s safer for me because I speak Spanish but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to someone who doesn’t. I wouldn’t call el poblado a “safe area” if anything that’s where I’m most on guard. Thieves know the foreigners are in el poblado so that’s where they go. They have no reason to think I have anything worth stealing when I’m in the more middle class neighbourhoods. But again, if you don’t speak Spanish, you don’t have options.

@isabellerdgz hablo perfecto español, soy de españa. Lo unico que bueno se me nota el acento de fuera. El poblado no me gusta por eso precisamente, que te parece laureles? He visto pisos buenos por ahi.

You nailed it very well. Another thing to say is that, even being a foreigner or a Colombian from another side of the country to really befriend a Paisa is very difficult; I mean, they will always treat you good and they would be friendlier than in other places of Colombia but at the end it is very difficult if you are from another region.

Wow! I think $500 for a penthouse is a steal! How did you find a place like that? Did you connect with a realtor? What will you do when your tourist visa/passport expires? Or are you a resident? Sorry, so many questions. I ask because I'm going there next year and may potentially make Albania my new home. Sold everything and am just traveling. Currently in SE Asia. Would love to be able to communicate with you more about Albania and your experience. Not sure how to leave my email or whats up app contacts without getting it getting pulled. Maybe you're not even interested, and that's okay too. If I don't ask, I'll never know. Thanks for your video!

I found it on airbnb. This particular apartment got a bunch of demand a few months ago and they raised the prices but there are still great prices in the area. I actually left Albania already - only had 90 days since I'm not a US citizen. Here's my instagram - @isabellerdgz or email - [email protected] if you have any questions :) Enjoy SE Asia!

You are young. You will gain experience. Your issues crack me up b/c for example you haven't run offshore teams for 30 years so you blink at time zones. I've been doing this for 35 years. You missed the most important lesson -- spare tires. I have back up cell phones, laptops. backup U.S. IPs, back up banks, credit cards, glasses, prescriptions. Yawn... Lived in Honolulu for 60 days... Got up at 4 AM for a Buenos Aires meeting. I was off work by 1 PM and at the beach. Wait until you're 40... You'll have seen it all, young Skywalker.

@@orkunvemosi I don't watch to pitch on Isabelle's channel. She is solid. Just young (which is no sin -- we were all young). I am actually creating my first 10 videos for a channel on relocating to the Philippines. It is no nomad focused b/c there are way more retirees. Old guy stories about getting 3 day old news by reading news papers in Abu Dhabi or listening to BBC on the car radio b/c you were basically cut off from the world. Those were the nomad days (getting shot at -- not fun).

Good points. Also nomads will miss certain foods. Peanut butter, chocolate, cheese, coffee, beef - all not nearly as good is SE Asia. ... Products too will be missed. Apparently there positive & negative points of digital nomad life. I prefer freelancing rather than 9-5 job. I like to fix my how hours for work. I adjusted myself in freelance in 2009 and since then I outsource things and always feel comfortable, relax and have a time to rejoice.
@isabellerdgzАй бұрын
Absolutely, having the flexibility to set your hours is a blessing and when you can outsource a lot of tasks, even better. It’s great to hear you have lots of time to relax and enjoy life. It takes time to get there - you’ve clearly put the work in. Congrats :)

Always fun to watch your vids! Life as a digital nomad would suit me perfectly. Being a software developer it should be easy to find remote work especially after the pandemic when we all worked from home with zoom etc. But it seems that things are shifting back to office work again. I imagine that in the coming decade there will be new entrepreneurs that start up with remote work as the basic idea of the company. When gen Z start companies that will change, just to many conventional ones right now.

Sounds like it'd be great for you! It's too bad a lot of companies are shifting back but yea remote work has definitely become more normal post-pandemic.

I'm not trying to be a troll but it is not that hard. Greetings from Manila :-) I'll take my one dollar water bill and all the other perks over my old life. @@jannarkiewicz633 If you live in rural Phillippines you need StarLink. But you can get a house with ocean view there for like $200 a month. Albania is rapidly becoming a normal European country it will be more expensive soon. Now some seaside condos ”luxury” sell for $100k.
