How come the battery lid is always broken off on these cameras?

Six years later, here I am watching this video. Why? Because I just got a Fujica Auto M from ebay. And boy am/was/will be confused by some of it. Love seeing your snaps. Such a fun story to tell.

I had an Olympus IS1000 back in the days. I sold it for like 5$ 15 years ago. There are plenty of these super cheap.

These quartz watches are still relevant today! I still have a Seiko quartz and a Citizen quartz that are 40 years old and still working fine. I bought 3 new Casios and I love them. I am a Casio fan... Casio is the best quality/price in the market I think. I had Casios when I was young, almost 50 years ago and I loved them. Very reliable watches!

One simple product for cleaning salts from battery leaks: white vinegar, it is so satifying whaching the bubbles it makes while the salts are getting melted away 🧐

Looks like it is actually a flaw in this model of camera, should be interesting to find how it occurs, either the user doing someting wrong, or improper handling like vibrations or shock ?

I was given this camera but in black. With a 28mm and a 50mm f 1.4 and a 70-200 Nikon lenses. All in really beautiful condition. I should load a roll of film and give it a try.

Do you need to stop the rewinder before it reaches the start of the tape? Or does it stop automatically?

Good video. Picked up one off eBay and spent an hour trying to open the back. Had no idea how to change shutter speed. Etc. Thanks!

Yup, my parents had one when I was a kid, and when I recently got ahold of a VCR, I made sure to also get a VHS rewinder. My parents always said not only was a VHS rewinder faster, but also smoothet, and better for the tape and better for the VCR.

You say 500th sec is reasonable, considering its an old camera. These are high spec cameras from the 1950's to 1980's, that's not old. Would you be in need of higher speeds, then select an oldie from the late 19th century that gives you 1.000 sec. In other words: you still don't know what you are talking about.

- The original intention of mirror lock up was to accommodate wide angle lenses that protrudes deep into mirror mechanism, but incidentally this feature also reduces camera shake so while newer wide angle lenses aren't protruding to the inside of mirror box anymore, the feature now solely to reduce camera shake in newer models - Self timers in SLRs and rangefinders with focal plane shutter are mostly robust, never seen a failed one except when it's a victim of drowning or badly rusted due too poorly stored. In fact, they're so robust that at times I used the self timer to free a stuck film winding mechanism. Plus despite you said that you don't want to use the self timer, bad news that your Minolta SR-7's self timer is already in cocked position, and in order to release it, slide the small tab right besides the self timer lever towards the lens barrel - The small button you pushed on the back is to change the light meter's sensitivity for low light reading, similar to Canon FX
