Proud to be among the first Diplomats of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (DipABLM) and sat for the exam in its second year. My interest: evidence-based health habit interventions, including but not limited to diet, exercise, stress, and foundational preventative medicine. I examined all my options, and this program was refreshing by emphasizing well-validated literature while at the same time maintaining a forward looking vision to enhancing healthy longevity equitably, and universally for better public health. I evaluated all my options for formal certification in lifestyle medicine practices at the time, and ACLM's certification process was by far the most rigorous and moreover founded in best practices. Suitable for all stages of practioners, this process provides a strong foundation for a wide variety of practice settings emphasizing empowering patient-centered behavioral and lifestyle change, and integrating these practices with emerging state-of-the art biomedical preventative health technologies. I can't recommend it enough. David Barzilai MD PhD.

Nurse here and we experience burn out too. I'm sure all working people actually are in the same boat. Our lifestyles have to change as a whole. This is the course I've been waiting for! Amazing video and thank you for bringing awareness to this issue.

Thank you Adam for sharing your story. You are such an inspiration! I heard about you through another programme - Mastering Diabetes. I have been a Type 1 diabetic since the age of 4. This really is a long haul marathon.

This is so inspiring. I have a friend that has struggled with diabetes most of his life and has convinced himself that statins and the carnivore diet are best for him. Sadly, his cardiac physician and endocrinologist have allegedly given him a clean bill of health. He's only been on this regimen for a few months. I hope that medical doctors begin to advocate more in educating their patients about how their lifestyle is impacting them. It is evident that many patients are trading in one condition for the inevitable deleterious conditions that are likely to occur as the result of long-term poor dietary and lifestyle choices, regardless of statin use. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful story. So glad he discovered the benefits of a predominately whole-food plant-based diet and is advocating for lifestyle change. As an aside, I also have that same Ju-Jitsu dummy and I practice as well. 🙂

Medical students and physicians deserve to hear about this! Implementing evidence based lifestyle medicine in all levels of society, health care systems could save up to 80 % of resources. If people only knew what can be achieved...

The power of WFPBD might be hard to believe unless you've experienced it - by yourself and witnessed patients to improve when they've been told just to accept the illnesses they have.

This brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. This week marks the one year anniversary my younger sisters death,.. Aug 18,. She was a single mother and fell into the mental health treatment care offered by conventional medicine, as her weight climbed to 280#. My mother also died in August earlier in the month. I was a long time caregiver for both my parents with cancer. My sister died from complications and underlying factors, (metabolic syndrome) related to Covid and the vaccines, while visiting Mexico. I always tried to direct my sis to lifestyle medicine and healthier eating patterns. She was a ball of anxiety and lonliness. As a former RN, mother of 4, married to an urologic surgeon for over 28yrs while, suffering from acute pancreatitis, I eagerly listened and learned from those who understood nutrition and learned the importance of self care. I am dedicating my life also to help those who have reached that critical place, called complete burnout with the painful beast called pancreatitis. Because I was a mother of 4 and fulltime caregiver, I allowed my nursing license to lapse and have not been able to renew due to time. My clinical days as a CVSICU RN in the 1980's supported what I was beginning to learn about how to pause and reverse disease. My Dad taught in the mental health sector at a State School. My Mother was a bookkeeper for PONY Baseball for 35 yrs. a vibrant woman who had no social boundaries. Our house was your house, filled with food and people. It's been a journey learning how to maintain and manage all the urges to cook like mom, but I promised myself that I would create a mental health kitchen and cooking school that. ACLM and IFM, FN, and all collaboratives would appreciate. Now a FMCHC I hope to move carefully toward that goal. Sending peace and strength to all in the ACLM community.
