Try slightly dampening the paper you’re transferring too, not wet but slightly damp and the ink will transfer a lot better. Hope that can help. Thanks for the pasta maker idea!

Love this… I’m originally from the north east of England so to see such familiar places in your sketchbook is a real joy… Betty’s, Staithes, Guisborough… just fab. I also use the little Royal Talens predominantly for people.. and put my colour swatches in the back (so I don’t repeat buy!!)

Zo fijn om mee te kijken in jouw schetsboek! Het is ook zo fijn om te zien dat het ook echt een 'werkboek' is van zoeken, voelen, proberen, mindere en mooie plaatjes... Zo erg en typisch, dat je dikwijls denkt, dat is alleen bij mij zo ;-) Altijd zo blij dat voorbeelden op illustratievlak, ook menselijk zijn 😂 zoiets. Ik schrijf het misschien niet zo duidelijk, maar je weet vast wat ik bedoel. Bedankt om te delen en fijne, warme (niet als in hitte, maar als in omringd met wat je gelukkig maakt) dag gewenst!

Soft pastels zijn ook voor details te gebruiken hoor, er zijn veel mensen die super realistisch ermee schilderen. Maar dan werken ze vaak met een stukje afgebroken pastel waar een scherper randje aan zit, zoals bijv Emma Colbert doet met haar dieren portretten. Maar ik vind jouw werk juist verfrissend en leuke manier zo met de brushpennen!

I really enjoyed your recent newsletter and I think it's really special that you go on these annual solo trips. Thank you so much for making this movie and sharing it with us. What an amazing, wonderful gift you give yourself each year. I admire you very much for doing that! Where you are from is beautiful! I love the paintings and drawings that scenery inspires.

I love that you know what you need, and that you do it! I think I'm very similar in that when I travel with someone I want to do what they want to do because I want to make them happy, or I "adjust" to them as you call it. I would probably benefit from traveling alone, but at the same time, because I don't get much of a chance to travel, I want to experience as much as I can with my husband. Anyway, this is a lovely "slow" video and was very nice to watch!

oh... how lovely!! I'm in dire need of something like this. A few days away from people, from imposed routines... I wish I could do that: wake up when my body wakes up not when others make noise, go to bed when i'm tired, eat when I'm hungry. not just following a clock or, again, others' timetables... but here (my corner of Argentina), if you don't drive/have a car, you're doomed. There's no public transportation to take you places, which are mostly far apart from each other. My family even have a flat at the side side BUT I CAN'T GET THERE. It's very annoying. Anyway, hope you found the inspiration you were looking for and that you can come back soon for more!! xx
