Dealing with the stumps was what I was looking forward to seeing.

What did you guys do with the stumps you left?

A chain link when it breaks can become a projectile 90 degrees to the pull. Like a bullet will kill instantly if it hits.

Awesome job bro, it’s always a pleasure to see someone else using the same arborist supply store and shouting them out on here, Ray and his crew there in gap are awesome, love going in and shopping there, I seem to always walk out of there with not only great tools for the profesional, but the knowledge is always the best. Great to see someone locally doing it bro, I hit the like and subscribe buttons brother, looking forward to more content, and hopefully I’ll see you around !!!!

Nice work! Were the high stumps for an excavator to dig out? How long did it take you?
@vikingtreewv3532 жыл бұрын
Thanks John, yes...we coordinated with the excavator on that detail. I think we were on-site three days on this one.

I love watching these videos! Especially knowing you’re local to my area. Do you run most of the branches thru a chipper? If so, what do you do with the wood chips?
@vikingtreewv3532 жыл бұрын
Thanks...yes, we chip most of the material up to about 15” in diameter, depending on species. We compost most of the chips for use as topsoil material.

A few before and after pictures may have shown what you did. I didn't see the fall line of the tree change very much. I would have made a more open face cut and not as deep. It is realy hard to see.

Looks like it was helped a little with a bit of a sizwill on a really tight notch or was there no notch at all?
@orangeshaw23702 жыл бұрын
There must've been a notch, else the lower region of the trunk would not have behaved like a traditional Humboldt. Looks to me the tree behaved like one stressed by a Dutchman undercut, iow.The notch wasn't cleaned out properly or the backcut was a wee bit low at the hinge. (As can be seen by the vertical tension ripping out the whiskers.) I don't see the vertical plunge cut, typical of a Sizwill ?

It would more informative to get a shot of both the stump and the tree after the fall to see the results.

Good job Erik, i'm proud of you. Sawd that tree real good.
