I really like the previous Hyperion Max, so a couple of things about this update that concern me are the sidewalls (often bother my 5th metatarsal) and increased weight (seems unnecessary/no benefit for the added weight) . Brooks uppers are almost always great and quality is very good. I don't mind the slightly firmer feel of the v1, even for easy miles, but this looks like it might be a pass for me (especially at RRP).

The Hyperion 2 is really the sequel to the Max. I haven't tried it yet, as a fan of the Max 1, I'm probably going to grab it at some stage. Brooks has sort of done what Saucony did with the Ride 17 and Triumph 22 where the Triumph 22 is basically a new shoe and the Ride 17 is more of a sequel to the Triumph 21.

Post run, after a very hard effort, does anyone experience quad or other leg pain? I've enjoyed a 5k PB in these shoes and they feel absolutely great whilst running and give that propulsion and performance benefit you'd expect but, twice now, the days after, my quads have been very sore as well as my calves. I had my first run in them yesterday. A 15k run at relatively easy effort. A bit underwhelming to be honest. You don't get any special sensation when running in these shoes but I'm guessing they will help with my injury prevention and recovery over time. Very early, but I think it is an over hyped shoe. Novablast can do most of what this shoe does in my humble opinion and at a fraction of the cost. Especially as SB2 will always be scarce and highly priced. Novablast eventually will be discounted. Currently, I have buyer's regret. Hopefully, that changes over time.
