There was no head contact. Jose Lima is not, test rugby material. That was the only fact that came out of that incident.

I believe the Boks have prided themselves on practicing lower tackles to avoid head contact. Clearly, Esterhuizen missed that class! However this is a clear red any day of the week imho. 🤔

The only head contact was; Jose Lima's head hitting the grass. Why was André Esterhuizen fine after the tackle, if there was head to head contact.?

Why you comment only the possitive reactions towords, Esterhuizen, he is a dirty player, he wants to heard his opponents, he should be banned from playing any rugby for a year ,and you should get off the internet with your one sided comments

The laws of the games have evolved in recent years to protect players from life-changing injuries (e.g. concussions, as endured by Pat Lambie). The officials in this case followed the protocol and came to the correct decision (Nigel Owen).

I do believe this is all part of Rassie plan for going forward preparing for next World Cup and just a reminder Rassie has earned himself a Doctorate and not only does he look at wherever improvement in his book as close to perfection any player can get Springbok Team has winning outlook and Rassie is Bold enough to be real and totally honest with his whole operation...God Bless Rassie 🙌 Beatrix Strydom

High speed; plenty of time to adjust but no attempt to dip by the tackler; no significant change of direction and height by the player tackled; obvious head-on-head contact = high degree of danger = red card.... where is the controversy? Trying to compare the decision to another one in another game is pointless. The referee, assistant referees & TMO are looking at the incident they officiating on, they are not comparing it to other incidents (there is no such thing as precedent in the laws of the game).

A basic tenet of Rugby is that the referees' decision is final. Accept it and get on with the game! Glad nothing said about the gender of the referee and that, somehow, had an impact. Incidentally there was clearly head on head contact and anyone saying otherwise needs their eyes testing!

Where was this TMO when Owen Farrell shoulder charged Esterhuizen back in November 2018? It's most defiantly a penalty - but NEVER a red card.

Rassie is just trying mind games, Andy has responded in a great professional way. Not taking notice of his goading but getting his own opinions and words in there. No need for any extra spice in a game like this.

RG was in the middle of the tackle, his head facing the other way. He couldn't see, how was supposed to stop. It happens a lot of time I don't believe it was intentional. 2 Broken legs, 2 bloodied faces, 1 concussion. I wonder what was intentional???? 😡

Players come in from the side and clear beyond the ruck all the time. The result was accidental though. What I think was missing was that he didn’t go check on him as a former teammate. Not a good look either in front of most of your future teammates.

High tackles are difficult to judge. How can a tall guy, when he did bend his body to go for a tackle be accused of a high tackle when the opposition is upright, or when both players god down? Sorry, this is a contact sport and if World rugby wants to stop head injuries, let all players wear head gear.
