@NextStepOutdoors yea I suppose but now with hangon stands weighing 6.5 -7 lbs you can 1 stick with an aider off your repel rope an it weighs less then a saddle kit an you can sit or stand an be comfy saddle hunting has been around since like the 70s it's jus a fade not really practical when you consider the other methods that are faster quiter more comfortable currently my plateform with a seat and my 1 rope repel with a madrock an 1 stick an aider I'm at 9.1 lbs 25 feet up a tee in like 3-4 mins the saddle is jus not for an all day hunt it's ok for 3 hours rut morning or late eve bedding area for a few hours but for all day sits I prefer to sit and not hang

It’s definitely not cheap. That’s for one of the most premium arrows you can get though. Could definitely build one out for around $200/dozen.
@cragar9 күн бұрын
These are by no means cheap, but for guys without the equipment... or folks looking to try out something custom it may be worth it. I'm new into arrow building, but the cost of the equipment seems relatively low and will pay off over a few years. Plus I can help my buddies & fix my own arrows, if I mess them up.
@NextStepOutdoors9 күн бұрын
100% agree with both of those points. One thing worth mentioning is that I ordered one of the more expensive arrows out there. I should do a budget version of this and see what they come out to. Could also skip things like the wraps and save some $$ there too.
@NextStepOutdoors9 күн бұрын
I just did a budget version in their builder and you could get the “gamer” version of this arrow for about $50 cheaper. That’s not bad for a full dozen arrows built out.

@robertcumming20359 күн бұрын
@@NextStepOutdoors I hunt a lot of public land and I often put trail cameras out on public land. You should do a video on tricks to help safeguard your gear while being left on public land. I’ll leave trail cameras, feeding equipment (tubes, auto feeders), barrels for feeding bears, tree stands and ground blinds set up on public land for weeks at a time. Some tricks I use; 1. I secure my bear bait barrels to trees with lock and chain or aircraft cable. 2. My spots are usually deep in the bush behind thick cover. 3. When placing trail cams, I will often bring one climbing stick and use it to put the camera high up n a further back tree out of reach to anyone who happens to find it (also good for bears who are nitrous for chewing trail cams). I am thinking about opening up my cameras and gluing in air tag trackers to my cameras as well. Over the years I have only lost one camera to theft. Lost way more to bears eating them.
@NextStepOutdoors9 күн бұрын
@@robertcumming2035 what state do you hunt? Funny you suggest that video topic. I’m gearing up to get all my public land cams deployed this next week and planned on making a video specifically about how to prevent theft. I’ve lost 3 in my life to other people. Two were the only 2 I’ve ever setup at ground level (python locked still). The other one was shot out of the tree with a shotgun 🤦🏼♂️ hang them high and lock them and you’ll rarely have issues. I’m starting to hunt PA more where there are lots of bears. Have yet to have one mess with a cam tho.

I think buying the equipment for the DIY is an upfront investment that I’m going to make for next years arrows. I would imagine the building process, for some, is therapeutic. I can see the Black Ovis builds being cheaper the first time you use it, but not for subsequent builds.

Someone else recommended that as well. Seems like a good cheap solution. Only thing I’d be worried about is just being a bit awkward shape with the handle. Could probably cut it off or maybe it’s not an issue.

I just stumbled onto your channel yesterday and I like what I see so far. I love the outdoors and hunting in general. Took my first black bear this spring and I am planning to finally use my saddle gear for some bow hunting this deer season coming. I have yet to harvest an animal with a bow so wish me luck. I live in Northern Ontario Canada right on the Michigan boarder and I have turkey hunted in Michigan but not yet for deer. I am thinking seriously about getting a non-resident deer license and finding some public land to hunt on.
