Thanks for this document. I love Home Theater, and designed my small entertainment room myself with measurements, bass alignment, equalisation, and measurements. I think I would like to pursue a career as a system integrator in London. Can you recommend a career path courses? I think Cedia website has those. Would the pathway for a System Integrator be a good start choice?

Congratulations Carol! You should be very proud of all the accomplishments over the years! You are (and have been for some time) "One of those people. . ." that you mention in the clip. You are an inspiration to all of us in the industry; as to how it should be done, can be done, and is done. I am honored to continue to work with you and look forward to many more years ahead. md

I love integrating Alexa with my jobs and that I can make money from them now. Really bummed that they left out the aux jack on all the new Show devices. As an integrator I liked being able to use them tied directly into the distributed audio systems when designing one from scratch.

This is great. Really love the language complexity example of "Time flies like an arrow and fruit flies like a banana." This video makes it much easier to understand why voice control is far from perfect and why it's so tough to get right. Everyone who uses voice control in any form should watch this.

That was a truly GREAT overview. It explains a LOT and anyone who wants or has one of these systems should hear this. Not just integrator but clients. I think there should be a basic 'command language' overview for clients to learn how to control/speak/command a system. Much like training a dog with limited commands, the client should understand that the system is not as smart as their dog and speaking clearly with a 'command structure' approach is best for optimum utilization. Another major issue you partially addressed is Network Access. Because all these systems REQUIRE cloud/internet access, a network failure can be problematic. Just last evening, we lost our internet (fortunately I have a backup ISP Router). Many lights and TV was on. Many of the control boxes (light switches/plugs) were in hard to access location in our home. We struggled to turn off devices but managed to do so; but it was a royal pain in the ass. A 'reserve' or some sort of redundancy should be added, but I realize that is a challenge for localized 'intelligence' with existing devices and available tech. Even though our local network (router and such) was perfectly fine, our primary ISP failed to deliver a working IP address. Since the device configurations depend on a specific network, reassigning a network to an alternate with my backup ISP (not many folks have this!) was impossible to address in any acceptable way. I have over 40 years in IT and actually had a 'smart home' company a few years back so understand most of these challenges; but most homeowners have little to no clue on how all this works. A client facing version of this presentation would go a long way to explain just how to use a voice activated control system. Tech has come a LONG way but still has a LONGER way to go. Great presentation. I wish I could have attended the live one but had a sort of 'Dental Emergency' that made that impossible. One thing not mentioned is the broadcasters will be able to totally CONTROL YOUR TV and what is being shown. You will NOT be able to hit the remote to change channels if they take control! So if it is deemed you ARE going to watch the governor give a speech, you WILL watch it or turn off your set. Period! This can open the door for all kinds of political mandated program watching.

Just another way for the government to give broadcasters money. They are on a guilt trip, paying the broadcasters for the digital fiasco that lost them millions of viewers. How about your market. Over the air I used to get every network and 5 independents plus PBS. I can barely get 2 networks and 1 independent now. Cut the happy horse shit, get the signal back to where it should be. You broke it, you fix it !
