They work. If you put them on the outskirts of your yard, the flies may stay out of your way more. Also, if you can do anything more to keep the chicken coop floor dry and free of old feed, you will have fewer flies.

Well done on your testing. Something to consider when looking to buy is the expense of filters and how often they should be changed. I have a Travel Berkey that gets new filters every 5 years. I am glad to see other products on the market and also to see them perform equally under basic testing. Thank you for running this comparison.

Yesterday, I was chilling at the top of a hill, the mama black bear and her two cubs were surprised to see me sitting there. All I heard was a low growl, as I turned to see what I just heard. She was staring at me from about 10-15ft away. No time to think, I could only react, jumping and running down the mountain she followed me. I could only yell 'NOOOOOO!!!' as loud as I could. When she stopped I would stop, but when I stopped she would charge again. After 3 more times of this she finally turned around. I literally thought I was dead meat there for a second. Now I'm carrying bear spray when I hike

Heard of one "camper" who sprayed the bear repellent around their campsite to keep the bruins away. Found bears licking the rocks because the basically applied seasoning to their site. Now if it had been sprayed in the face different story (I've been pepper sprayed before and it is not on my do again list). I suspect that is why they call them deterrent not repellent now, to deal with consumer ignorance. Thanks for making this video.
@pantrypreparedness
@pantrypreparedness 11 күн бұрын
Bear spray does leave the whole area pretty spicy afterwards. I heard a similar story but the camper applied it like bug spray... Calling it a "deterrent" instead of a "repellent" is probably a good idea but that still wont save some people from their own stupidity.

Went through 3 of those igloo coolers. Seal was bad on the first second one the fridge just decided to turn itself off and could never go back to “on” and the third one the plastic where the controls are was delaminating making the buttons very difficult to use. ended up picking up a Goal Zero Alta80 for the same price as the Costco igloo. Waaaay better build quality but in my testing the Costco igloo was extremely efficient like 10 W per hour and the Alta is about 12-15

I got the Igloo model at Costco too. The main reason I chose it was because the internals are made by Dometic, at half the price of an actual Dometic dual zone model, plus Costco’s incredible return policy.

@daughterofletha4
@daughterofletha4 18 күн бұрын
Hello. Thank you both for a great video. I did however got a little confused when you spoke of ice chips. I’m trying to cut out the cost of dry ice. So to clarify- these are electric- I won’t need any ice or dry ice- & I can use a jackery or a battery depending on which one I choose- correct? Also how many watts for a jackery is needed to use for the igloo? And the middle euhomie (sp-lol!) Thanks again.
@pantrypreparedness
@pantrypreparedness 17 күн бұрын
Exactly, they run on electricity so no need for ice. All of these models go down below 0 degrees. The Igloo never needed more than 100w, both of the smaller coolers only needed 50w while cooling, then they idle at around 5w so yourJackery will be more than enough. Now the one in the middle, as well as the one on the left, can be used as either a freezer or fridge. Just depends on what you set the temperature at. Thanks for reaching out!

Hey man. Throw a couple Grabber Warmer hand warmers in there. A pack of 2 are 10 hours per. You would only need 1 and can extend it if you have a ziplock bag to make it air tight again. So now you have 20 hours of extra safe heat.

Maybe I missed it, how many cc’s of oxygen absorbers does the bag require for dog food? ☺️ Also, does the fat content affect the food storage even though the moisture level is optimal for mylar bags with oxygen absorbers?
@pantrypreparedness
@pantrypreparedness 18 күн бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! We used the 400cc oxygen absorbers that came with the Wallaby bags. Those are suppose to be good for up to a gallon but by time we squeeze most of the air out of the bag i'm sure our bags volume is far less than a gallon. The fat is whats eventually going to go bad here but by sealing it and absorbing the oxygen were significantly slowing down that process.

They are all made from high grade cordury nylon, YKK zippers, arguably the best zippers in the business with self reparing zips so it it unravels, just use the other zipper to realing and close it again. I've tried your sort of ponchos before, but the only poncho I will now use is one with a full-frontal zip. Mine is an Altus Atmospheric, from Spain. When it arrived, its bottom hem ended at my knees, so my wife extended the hem by sewing a 6" wide length of Tyvek to it. It's more or less ideal now. I live in the UK and these days I never wear shorts due to the danger of ticks and Lymes Disease, we are often warned about it. When wearing my Altus I also wear waterproof gaiters, the end result is I am dry from head to feet.

My basal metabolic rate is well over 2,000 calories per day. Which means even if I rested all day, which I don’t, that number of calories leaves me at a deficit. At my weight, that’s okay. But it wouldn’t be sustainable for a long period of time.

We've had the garden there for nearly a decade and have discovered some plants that don't work, but a lot that do. The trees are on the north and east side, so it does get a surprising amount of sun throughout the day. I've tried replanting some of the beds two more times now, and most seeds won't even sprout. The ones that do are growing much worse than normal. The abnormality is what prompted making this video. We actually have less shade this year than we've ever had since some of our biggest branches broke in a storm.
