I have bought numerous journals. They are all still blank now for months or even years. I watch these great videos and hope to just get into the habit of putting a dot on the paper and assigning a task to it. How do good intentions get translated into physical actions? Oh, me!

There are a few apps - but the primary one is Streaks.

The constant jumping of this video from one scene to the next within seconds makes it impossible for me to watch. This is different from all the other BuJo videos I've seen, and I'm not in favor.

An pulling out a notebook that size compared to a phone for quick flashes of inspiration is different aswell I tried to carry a notebook or notepad jus couldnt "Capture" the flash of inspiration at a moment second which is easier with a phone note book for planning

I have a lot of competing responsibilities including eldercare. In my task tracker I have categories like "Mom", "Unexpected (category)" and "OMG Life WTF" which is where I track the times I just hit a wall or burnout catches up with me. That really helps me see where my time went, be gentler to myself, and try to make things more sustainable. I really like your idea for the habit tracker, they have never worked for me on paper or digitally. Going to try the week by week method on paper and see if it sticks better.

I choose my priorities just by brain dumping monthly tasks and choosing three priorities daily. Don't really need the calendar except for later events/appts or reminders. I use the weekly layout to have a visual view of my week.

Very true that productivity apps and systems can get very out of control. Also with your mind thinking of everything to do. Having a journal to write down in can indeed help you to understand everything you can focus on and some of the fluff you can cut out!

Feel personally attacked by the Habitica app clip 😂 I deleted it from my phone after starting Bullet Journal
@JLUnit4162 күн бұрын
I'm almost there; downloaded it a few months back, figured out that non-consecutive uses wouldn't penalize my XP gain, so I either loaded it up with less meaningful habits to spam XP, then take long hiatuses, to keep that XP. 😅 Loved incorporating a habit tracker on the monthly log timeline, seeing patterns and possible reasons or explanations for them. I think the only reason why I haven't deleted Habitica is because Bullet Journaling has helped to reduce screen time.

For the longest time I used journaling (full on writing) as a means of processing my day and needed tasks. I lived in NY, and had a roughly 45 minute commute where I could do that. It took me a while to figure out that my commute was forcing me to make time every day, and now I had to do it on my own, but I’m getting there. It’s not easy, but it is possible

That's the motto - "not easy, but it is possible"

Oh I'll give it a try! So far no table tracking, app tracking did it for me. I almost always forgot to track and didn't bother later. This looks sensible and promising.

@lordrandal903 күн бұрын
I remember this being explained in an earlier video, this time put into the context of digital habit tracking. Setting the intention and then reviewing it is way more powerful than any app. Looking forward to having all these new notions in a second edition of The Bullet Journal Method.

Is there a way or a system to bring both together. Digital and manuel. I’ve come back to bullet journal so many times but always veer away and down the tech space. My big habit I need to get right is water intake. I have ADHD and often get into a cycle of hyper focus and forget. I need to find a better system
@interruptingPreempt2 күн бұрын
I found trying to track in both the physical and digital space meant I couldn't keep up with either. YMMV. Have you found a hydrating drink that you enjoy? It doesn't have to be plain water.
@rebeccaw9656Сағат бұрын
A good digital calendar really can replace most productivity and tracker apps. Look for a digital calendar that can combine both calendar and tasks/reminders. Eg, Google Calendar and Tasks, Samsung calendar and Samsung Reminders, Outlook and ToDo, or for Apple, Fantastical. Put your calendar in Schedule View on your phone, which helps massively with overwhelm. Add entries for things you do, as you do them; or to schedule things, in quick bullet points - quick and easy. Referring to your digital calendar, with tasks in the same scroll, helps to recall details for regularly updating a bullet journal. Or your bullet journal may inform your digital calendar when you review your week and plan your next week.

Paper all the way! It’s slower, more deliberate. Currently I’m on holiday in Thailand with my wife and kids, so I’m now just journaling in my BuJo. When back in The Netherlands, it’s back to the bullet journal method! 🇳🇱 ☀️

I loved the system, the 2 weeks i managed to stick to it. My ADHD issues lay more in the "where did i put that damn book". I hope that once i finish decluttering, and the house is settled I'll be able to use an analogue system again.

I love this. But how do I reconcile with the to do's in my apps that also need to get done....?
@larisazambonekocic55294 күн бұрын
I think apps are (most of the time?) a way of escape, the distraction acctually welcome so that one does not need to take stock of one's own thoughts, responsibilities, priorities, etc. While a pristine blank page can be exciting for some, it can also instil terror (of taking responsibility) into others. I think the overt artful customization of BJ's minimalist setting serves a simmilar distraction as the apps. 😉
@bulletjournal2 күн бұрын
Yes, it all depends on why we're engaging with it - I'm definitely not anti-app, just anti-automaticity of distraction!
