Thanks! I think total cost was about 14k including buying the defender. It’s hard to make a profit in this market. Even with doing pretty much all the work.

Still looking for a none vvt liana engine for my 02 jimny special, had some mud tires put on the weird 3 spoke alloys and any slight incline and im stuck at 30 lol need to get a transfer case with some more suited ratios but the weldings allready taken my money to pass thr next mot
@Oilatumify
@Oilatumify 4 ай бұрын
Depending on your budget you could get a liana and pull the engine. Stick the 1.3 in the liana and sell it for someone to use as a starter car. I also found that I had a blow on the exhaust when 1.3 was in and once the exhaust was repaired it made a big difference to power. Worth checking your exhaust
@D3fenderfox
@D3fenderfox 4 ай бұрын
@@Oilatumify cheers, my exhaust does sound way too loud although it's a stock one so il give that a go, there's a liana in hull for around 700 I think and seems like a good little motor to swap in but no engine pics to see if it's none vvt, hopefully it's still up when I have thr money together

There are many cars that don’t need the clutch to be depressed to start. However any kind of advanced driver training will always teach you to put the clutch in on start up, to avoid either ploughing someone over or smashing your vehicle into a wall or other obstacle. Safety safety safety.

To be honest nothing fancier than a wire wheel on the drill then a couple coats of hammerite spray on the arms and subframe. There are other options I guess that people might prefer but it seems to have lasted. I should probably have a look again to check. I did also plan on replacing the brake disc shields with galvanised dipped new ones as they have few rust holes. Very thin sheets from factory tbh.

is the DPF on these locatied under the car where the res would be on a petrol model? Or am i missing somethnig? Just thinking of buying one of these. Hows the map? Is it reliable ?
@Oilatumify
@Oilatumify 6 ай бұрын
Yes exactly. Straight forward to unbolt the section. Map is very good. We’ve done about 4k miles so far. No issues, we get about 45 mpg now which is not terrible. Smooth and turns it into a proper ST in my opinion. Sounds good too.

@@Oilatumify thanks mate i read on pumaspeed website not to use supermarket diesel with the map? id be using tesco's more than likely? do you use the premium stuff from shell? Have you put the map through its paces? really hammered it i mean? Just asking for reliability concerns. Cheers

Best option is gutting the cat, with a map to suit. I've got stage 3 from Pumaspeed 278hp and 570nm, clutch went a week.later, Got a new clutch now, You will need to change the gearbox mount too if you mod.

Really depends on what your expectations are. Wether it’s a restore to get back running or a full rebuild. And depends how much you can do without paying a garage.

The wobble will be the preload on the steering swivels . Basically not tight enough . You should find how to fix it on KZfaq .
@ptstouring49
@ptstouring49 10 ай бұрын
The wobble is usually the panhard rod bushings. Sometimes you can tighten the bolts, but the bushings are cheap as chips even for genuine so replace those before messing with swivel ball preload. The steering links you replaced did not look terrible. I like the correct steering wheel better. Nice work.

Christ, you really mullered that, the floor will have to com out when, not if, you have to do the gearbox. Ludicrous to seal the floor like that, there should be a MODERATE amount of sealer UNDER the seams. The Defender leaks from the top, outside, not from the bottom. Pity the next owner who tries to do anything on that. Sound quality was piss poor, but you made that worse too with background music....
