I was going to give it to my son for his 2nd birthday is that not normal I find everyone making it only for 1 yo
@dietitianmeetsmomАй бұрын
I think most people use it for a one-year-old because they are typically the group looking for a "no-sugar" healthier cake recipe. The official recommendation is no sugar below 2, which is probably why it ends up this way, and then more parents are serving a more typical option of cake at 2 and later on. However, this is certainly still a healthy option at 2 and my kiddos enjoyed it past 1. Just depends on what you're looking for :)
@hals999Ай бұрын
@dietitianmeetsmom thanks for reply he is still In a very picky phase or selective I shall say and I am not ready to give him a full piece of regular cake at like 20 g sugar and 600 cal maybe next year! Lol I will make this one thank you. He has whip cream and fruit and some dark chocolate here and there but to overload right on the 2nd birthday seems a bit too much. I just think it should be normal for kids to have lower sugar options past 1 and still enjoy it. Plenty of years ahead for the real deal. This cake is the real deal for a two yo! Thanks
@dietitianmeetsmomАй бұрын
@@hals999 Yep! And if they aren't used to "real cake" they literally don't know what they are "missing" anyway ;) . My kids are more than happy to eat my healthier baked goods - even past 2.

I tried using multi grain baby cereal since it pretty much the same thing as blended oats. Or Atleast I thought because I tried it twice and it came out as mush? Do you know if it should work? Because if it should maybe I did something else wrong lol

Get oat flour or almond flour
@dietitianmeetsmom18 күн бұрын
Haven’t tried it with that. Different grains definitely cook differently though. I would stick with oats & see how it comes out.

My eggs from Sams Club in TX match the orange color of the Vital Farms. I’ve heard that it varies. Sucks your are not good at such a great price. I typically but those or the Happy Egg. The Happy Egg heritage are the best as far as yolk and taste goes.

My cake didn’t come out fluffy at all; it was heavy and dense, why do you think that is? I followed all the ingredients and measurements. It’s dense and tight that I don’t think my son will be able to break pieces on his own from the round double later
@dietitianmeetsmomАй бұрын
Sorry it came out that way for you. I’m not sure what happened. It is not a super fluffy cake (due to the healthy ingredients as opposed to ingredients in a traditional cake….white flour, sugar, etc) but it shouldn’t be so hard and dense that a baby would have issues breaking it.

I haven't tried any flavor other than coconut. I know some people make an icing alternative out of Greek yogurt for their baby's cake, which seems like a good idea and may be worth looking for a recipe if that's more your style! :)

In case you weren't aware & I'll just assume that you weren't. The title of this sounds extremely pretentious, but I shouldn't expect anything less. Tiny "petite" mothers who brag about being tiny & petite, are nothing more than another clique for the knocked up who don't actually look like gave birth at all, but rather stole their baby from some other large & obviously pregnant woman, then narrowly escaped the hospital without being caught, while on their way to Pilates.
@dietitianmeetsmom3 ай бұрын
In general, petite is a term used to describe stature, not weight. Petite typically refers to 5’3” and under. If you would have watched the video you would know that I had trouble finding a baby carrier that actually fit me due to my size. The video is meant to fill a need and help other moms find a carrier that works for them without having to return or buy & donate as many as I did until I found a few that worked well for me. I have to name it something that other 5 foot moms will be searching or they wouldn’t be able to find it. Hope you have a good day!

I'm guessing you already made your little one's cake. I hope it turned out well! I think storing it in the fridge or freezer for a few days would be fine, as long as you set it out to come to room temperature before serving (just to help it be softer for your little one to dig into.)

All sugars.. None are whole foods. Nothing healthy about any of this.
@dietitianmeetsmom Жыл бұрын
Agreed that these packaged foods are not nutritionally dense for the most part. I recommend whole food snacks (fruits, veggies, hard boiled eggs, plain yogurt) when possible, but these are much better options than 90% of the packaged foods & snacks at target which is what my aim for the video was. To give busy families who need options & ideas to step away from chewy granola bars & Cheetos. Not to recommend they consume packaged foods all the time. Thanks for watching!
