Si possono giustamente e doverosamente amare le interpretazioni di Gieseking o Benedetti-Michelangeli, ma il Debussy di Richter è miracoloso. Questa Clair de lune è di un altro universo.

Bravo! Never heard of this pianist. Love the unabashed Rossini melodies gussied up in whizz-bang piano virtuosity. The recording sounds like it was made in '50's or early '60's, when Herz' music had long been relegated to the dustbin of musical history, making this a very unusual piece for a pianist to play at that time. (And extraordinarily well, too.)

Peccato non sia ancora emersa (a tutt'oggi) alcuna registrazione da Ancona 8 aprile. Anche se il programma fu identico (anche nei bis) qualsiasi nuova registrazione di concerti richteriani è un tesoro. (Pienamente d'accordo sulla rapacità e scorrettezza di YSL.)

Ricordo benissimo quel pomeriggio ad Ancona, che precedette il Concerto jesino del giorno dopo! alla mattina portarono lo strumento e un accordatore giapponese lo accordò. Poi quando se ne andò lo suonai per una ventina di minuti: uno Yamaha, non male, ma nulla a che fare con un pari misura Steinway... Ricordo che qualcuno registrò quel concerto, ma l'acustica era pessima di quella sala...

@@MyPianoRarities Grazie per la testimonianza. Non sarebbe la prima volta trovarsi a fronteggiare una acustica pessima. E' successo anche in registrazioni uscite addirittura in canali commerciali . Ma sarebbe comunque un evento. Ormai è uscito quasi tutto il possibile in canali amatoriali. Bisognerebbe andare a frugare negli archivi delle varie radio russe, bulgare, rumene ecc. per trovare qualcosa di non ancora emerso. Speriamo bene (anche se la mia personale aspettativa di vita non è a lunghissimo termine...!)

Both Stephen Hough and Camille Saint-Saens are perhaps the most underrated people in classical music. Hough's Saint-Saens performance here makes full amends for the traumatic beating he received at the hands of a bully in grade school. You simply cannot say that this is merely a great performance. Instead, it is an undertaking of a life-change and re-orientation of values congruent with aesthetics. If you ever heard Hough's performance of Hummel's Third Piano Concerto you could agree with me. - David Lyga

Класс. Я не знаю, почему. Но я могу слушать записи только того времени. Звук особенный. Вроде бы и техника есть, и рояли идеальней некуда, но любую современную запись хочется выключить через 10 сек. А это…чудо!

This is the best interpretation of this opus for me. First piece is orchestral, and he is the only one person actually implemented it, without much fortissimo and keeping the strucuture of piece. The last one is also brilliant, something from scherzo, it helps to avoid much loud again, and shows the music phrasing better. As for me, Schiff got something from Kreisleriana here) But I think it's a good thing. Generally, I like his way of creating forte and strong character more from meaning, then from sound itself in Brahms. That is the interpretation for 95% I wanted to find in records on youtube, but unfortunately couldn't get it from other pianists. I am thankful to Mr. Shiff for great performance! It would be great to find also op.76 played by Shiff, but for now didn't find it.

Santa pace! Ho un groppo alla gola riascoltando questo capolavoro di Keith. Consumai il vinile con l'esecuzione di D. Russell Davies. C'ero a questo concerto quella sera, ricordo ancora che il Maestro Trythall eseguì due volte una sua recente composizione 'Aria' (1985).

Prof non sa quanto mi manca, proprio 2 giorni fa stavo pensando a lei stavo ascoltando Gieseking e mi stavo domandando se lo ha conosciuto dato che era amico di Casella e per un attimo ho pensato"ora vado a casa le telefono e le domando questa cosa"ma poi mi rendo conto che non è più possibile parlare con lei direttamente.Mi mancano tanto quelle lunghe chiacchierate.
