Have a translucent red vinyl by Fantasy records. I was hooked on Brubeck then. !950 I think. Jazz At Storyville.

definitely swinging mo'better here @ this slower, more manageable pace...more innovative, too! All the while GENE keeps 'layin' down' solid rhythms and supportive chords! I like DESMOND'S solos here better than the album cut. Regardless, if this and other 'alternate cuts' are publically available, then we get twice the enjoyment!

Very nice "take" of now highly famous "TAKE FIVE " . This cut could have also done great if it had been as the album cut ! Thanks GENE and JOE for all their years of solid, expert rhythmic foundation work and innovative solos !!!

Joe Morello looks like he's reading a newspaper off to the side because it's just too easy for him to play!
2:14 Merci infiniment pour cette nouvelle version. Personnellement, j'avais l'ancien CD, depuis bien longtemps. My favorite theme... Par delà B Minor Waltz, que j''ai eu la chance d'essayer de jouer, en toute humilité, grâce à une description personnelle. So, thank you so much !...

Very good rendition but well, a little speedy. Did the Quartet have a plane to board on that day?

Does anyone know where I can find the “extended cut” part of the recording they’re dancing to? I love seeing Brubeck improvise with this song.

As a sax player, it is interesting to see how Paul Desmond alters his embouchure between high and low notes. I wonder how much of that is compensating for intonation issues on that particular instrument. For non-sax players, no sax is perfectly in tune for all notes and a certain degree of adjustment is needed with the mouth position and the pressure applied to the reed. When you are used to the unique imperfections on one instrument, moving to a different one can be quite difficult at first.

Besides the version of "Take Five" included on the "Time Out" LP (original first pressing, with a jacket autographed by two of Dave's sons, which I've played hundreds of times), I have listened to this live version several dozen times. Every time I do, I could swear that, starting around 3:15, I can hear the faintest of humming coming from Dave. Has anyone else noticed this? MarkT
