Just found your channel and it is great! Having just got into micro fishing and going for smaller species and recently booked a trip to Thailand this really peaked my interest! Great job showing of the different species and talking about som identifying characteristics, that's awesome! Great pictures of the fish aswell, made it really enjoyable to watch! Plus your vids helped me identify a couple of fish I caught several years ago and couldn't identify so Thanks alot! I was stumped on the Whitestreaked Monocal Bream, could not find anything like it because mine was alot different in colour (Big yellow eyes, greenish back and red:ish fins) but might have been because it was caught in januari, but the white streak gave it away! Also had trouble with the Longfin Grouper, confusing it I guess with the Honeycomb Grouper. They still look identical to me though! 🙂 Anyways, great job and I'll keep watching your videos! Keep it up!

Thank you. Identification for some fishes can be tough to say the least. That is also what keeps it interesting for me too. I enjoy doing the research and learning about all the different species that I'm catching and not catching. It makes it more fun.

I really enjoy your videos. Do you have any problems traveling with your fishing gear to other countries? Mainly your fishing line and hooks? Do you have to unspool your reels and put your tackle in checked luggage or can you carry it on?
@TheFishingNomad
@TheFishingNomad 3 күн бұрын
Great questions. I learned pretty quickly that it's best to just check everything. Haven't had any problems ever since I started doing that. Before when I used to bring it in my carry on it was a nightmare because every country is different. For example, Hong Kong let me carry on my rod, reel, and line, but not my hooks. Indonesia let me carry on my hooks, reel, and line, but not my rod. Qatar let me carry on my rod, reel, and hooks, but not my line. It's very annoying how these governments create arbitrary standards for what is allowed on a plane or not. Now I just check everything to make it easier on myself.

@@TheFishingNomad Thanks for the reply. I was curious because I was thinking about taking my Daiwa Presso Travel Combo with me the next time I travel but I’m afraid it would get stolen if I put it in my checked luggage. Has that ever happened with you?
@TheFishingNomad
@TheFishingNomad 2 күн бұрын
No I've never had anything stolen from my checked luggage. That's not something I'm particularly worried about. I'm more worried about the rods breaking when they throw the luggage around, but that hasn't happened to me either.

Gut hooking fish has little to do with the types of hooks you use. You can use the hooks you are currently using, but you just need to pay closer attention to your bait and set the hook/start reeling sooner. If you really want to limit gut hooks, use circle hooks.

Thanks for sharing!! I didn’t realize their were so many !! Great tips .!! Yeah I like the long ear sunfish color display and design the best. I was born & raised in Southbury CT and caught several different species and I’m 54 years young going on 55 !! Never decided to investigate as to how many different sunfish species their are until doing a google search. When I was 8 yo was the first time I had gone fishing in Lake Lillinonah in Southbury Connecticut. I need to watch your video again to see all the species and see exactly which species I recall viewing.

I use this lure every time I go out this summer. It has been my #1 bluegill / and other fish catcher this summer. I use it on a 1gram i_fish BG-1 jighead with a $12 hook. I trim OFF the 2 eyes and superglue (Locktite with black center on the plastic container. Waterproof!) My biggest bass on it was 2 lb. 5 oz. I throw it out, let it sink to the bottom, then slow lifts let it sink, or 2 or 3 lift and twitch let it sink back to the bottom combinations until I find out which retrieve is working the best that day. I have had MANY fish hit me on the fall. It's killer with the small jighead and eye trim mod! I have caught them on the green pumpkin, red, and pink colors. I like it WAY better then the Anisoptera! It lasts a lot longer! Try it with the mod and maybe get you some jig heads from i_fish. I think you'll see a big difference. I did. Thanks for posting.

Only the males of Fat sleepers develop the big heads, that lunker with the bright colours and the disproportionally big head, was in full breeding dress. I know they migrate to spawn... think of the morphological changes make salmon undergo... it's like that with the gobies. The stripey, smaller ones most likely young females.
